Position Overview

The Cost Supervisor will oversee, track, and optimise expenses linked to oil site solutions and rig processes. This role works closely with Stock Chain, Processes, Finance, and Vendor Management teams to guarantee expenditure is in sync with financial plans and agreements, and aids the company’s lead for cost effectiveness and financial discipline.

Primary duties

  • Preserve a thorough and routinely current cost tracker spreadsheet of all materials, tools, and solutions used in rig processes.
  • Ensure the cost sheet comprises unit prices, vendors, frequency of buy, dispatch timelines, and usage indicators.
  • Assist the development and management of standard cost libraries for commonly used rig solutions and consumables.
  • Work alongside the Stock Chain team to evaluate and compare vendor quotations.
  • Evaluate pricing systems, dispatch plans, and service terms.
  • Carry out price benchmarking exercises across similar vendors and agreements.
  • Engage in talks to lead cost savings without compromising quality or process effectiveness.
  • Work alongside Stock Chain and Processes to pre-selected and endorse preferred vendors based on price, effectiveness record, payment terms, and adherence.
  • Preserve a preferred vendor matrix for rig-associated categories (e.g., diesel, spares, transport, culinary service, third-party rig assist).
  • Make sure that Buy Orders (POs) reflect precise quantities, unit prices, cost centers, and tax codes.
  • Confirm adherence with internal regulate rules and authorized financial plans.
  • Confirm that PO amounts match with agreements and actual service dispatch.
  • Offer instantaneous cost data, variance documentation, and predicting findings to PMs, Finance Managers, and Senior leaders.
  • Evaluate deviations between budgeted and actual spend, highlighting root causes and risk zones.
  • Assist the project setup of AFE (Approval for Spending) and post-position cost evaluate packs.
  • Track expenditure against authorized AFE, position cost sheets, and financial plans.
  • Flag possibility overruns and assist escalation and reforecasting methods.
  • Resolve vendor bills against dispatch documentation and POs.
  • Verify that every cost recordkeeping (quotes, bills, PO copies, agreements, dispatch notes) is stored and archived systematically.
  • Assist internal audits by offering cost backup and audit trails.

Credentials and Expertise

  • Bsc in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Stock Chain, or relevant field.
  • ICAN/ACCA Membership is a plus
  • 3+ years in expense management, ideally in an petroleum sector environment. 
  • Understanding with SAP software for expense monitoring and status updates.
  • Robust Excel competencies (pivot tables, lookups, modelling).
  • Comprehension of petroleum sector supply chain and purchasing.
