Primary goal

  • Organizing, arranging and carrying out laboratory initiatives and directing the laboratory employees according to MSF procedures, guard measures and hygiene guidelines, in order to assist the MSF medical team in the diagnosis of patients’ diseases.

Role summary

  • Engaging in the project organizing and client engagement and analyzing the laboratory financial plan as required, in order to assist MSF’s medical initiatives.
  • Making sure the adherence of MSF hygiene and safety procedures, both individually and collectively in addition to informing employees of current biological risks.
  • Executing laboratory tests and carrying out sample collection (serology, hematology, biochemistry, bacteriology, parasitology...) in accordance with prescriptions in addition to making sure that quality assurance tests are carried out routinely.
  • Informing the doctor of the outcomes of the tests and keeping a document of the evaluation with data from patients.
  • Making sure proper management (cleaning, servicing & maintenance, organizing) of all laboratory tools and the adequate stock of needed tools and material in order to prevent inventory-outs. This comprises being in charge of all necessary automatic instrument calibration, making sure that no material is taken out of laboratories without prior approval, and carrying out a proper storage system and terms, stock, etc.

  • Following the different standard Mini-Lab procedures and standardized processes.

Post-running test:

  • Being skilled in the Mini-Lab computer system (Mini-LIMS) in order to guarantee that the data collected at each step is logged;

Qualifications
