Community-related Science Analysis Manager at Alliance for International Medical Action (ALIMA) in Abuja (FCT)

Circumstance

• Lassa fever (LF) is an acute febrile illness linked to bleeding, organ setback, and shock caused by the Lassa virus (LASV). It is endemic in several low and middle-earnings countries of the West African region, which includes in Nigeria.
• In Nigeria, the yearly LF outbreaks are a key community health issue due to a sharp grow in the number of cases. Transmission to humans occurs mainly through direct or indirect exposure to excreta from the rodent reservoir, mainly made up of Mastomys natalensis.
• Aligned by ALIMA, the Combine Consortium, is executing a stage II/III clinical field experiment operational base to evaluate the efficacy, safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics of applicant investigational medicine goods for the treatment of LF. The field experiment is being executed in the Federal Medical Centre Owo (FMCO), Ondo State and the Irrua Expert Training Hospital (ISTH), Edo State. The Combine project comprises 8 Work Bundles (WP).
• The person employed for this role will join the WP7 Analysis team, whose mandate comprises:
• Evaluating the performance of the ‘Combine group sensitization plan’ in supporting acceptability to engage in a clinical study of Lassa fever therapeutics in Nigeria (the ‘Evaluation study’), and
• Exploring the readiness, facilitators, and obstacles to involvement in a Lassa fever clinical field experiment (the ‘Acceptability study’).
• These studies goal to offer expertise and strategic guidance for the design and execution of future clinical field experiments in the Nigerian circumstance, which includes group sensitization plans. The execution of WP7 is guided by FMCO, ISTH, and the Tertiary institution of Bordeaux in France (UB).
• Team under her/his oversight: 2 community-related science site investigators (1 based in Owo, Ondo State, and 1 based in Irrua, Edo State)
• Zone: Analysis, mixed methods, community-related sciences.

Purpose and Main Initiatives

The Community-related Science Analysis Manager will be in charge of arranging and executing community-related sciences analysis initiatives at the two sites in Nigeria: Owo (Ondo State) and Irrua (Edo State). She/He shall report to the scientific oversight of the WP7 co-PIs.

Scope of Duties

She/He will oversee the team of the two sites, make sure that good analysis procedures are followed, which includes that secrecy and ethics are respected, and that the data is of premium quality. She/He will be managing and directing the execution of the WP7 analysis parts. She/He will arrange the collection of quantitative and qualitative data (observations, questionnaires, and individual interviews) with group key stakeholders and members, patients and family members, health experts, and managers participated in the field experiment. She/He will arrange and head development sessions on the study procedure, which includes the hiring process plan and data collection resources.

General:

Engages in WP7 analysis team sessions. Delivers a executive summary of the analysis initiatives when requested by the WP7 co-PIs.

Qualifications

PhD Academic qualification in Human and Community-related Sciences (Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology) or in Community health / Worldwide Health, or equivalent.

Competencies:

• Executive guidance, information exchange, collaboration, and good company competencies.
• Good logical and skilled in writing.
• Competence with workspace resources (Word, PowerPoint).
• Expertise with a quantitative data collection instrument (e.g., RedCap, Kobo Collect).
• Capability to listen, interact with others, and empathy are crucial competencies.
• Plan and autonomy.
• Expertise in Lassa disease and its effect on networks.
• Good expertise in the sociocultural, political, religious, and epidemiological circumstance of Ondo and Edo States.

Languages:

Capability to convey in English and the main Nigerian languages spoken in the site of task (Owo and Irrua).
