About the Position

The Business Development Work collaboratively (BDP) position sits central to that purpose. As a BDP, you’ll be at the frontline of Paystack’s growth engine. You’ll acquire and close new business, build enduring connections with founders and corporate decision-makers, and assist your project sample of merchants unlock the full value of our operational base, whether they’re a efficient-scaling financial technology or a beloved local in-store corporate identity. You’ll be allocated to a specific vertical (which includes financial technology, coverage, health, education, e-commerce, healthcare, airlines, etc.), and you’ll take full ownership of growth and retention within that space. But this isn’t a typical sales position. BDPs at Paystack are trusted consultants to their merchants. You’ll be in the guest accommodation for the strategic decisions that establish how a business moves. You’ll evaluate payments effectiveness, spot drop-offs or setback points, and lead modifications that boost income or reduce churn. You’ll advocate your merchants internally and make sure Paystack is building what matters most to them. To thrive in this position, you’ll need to close agreements with trust, build trust efficient, and operate like an owner, constantly pushing for better results for your merchants and your team. The best BDPs are endlessly curious about sectors, business models, client conduct, and product possibility. They can think long-term while acting efficient. This is a dynamic, externally facing position that blends sales, growth plan, product thinking, and connection management. You’ll work cross-operationally with some of the smartest people in the organization, from product to engineering to risk, all in service of building the payments structure that powers modern African commerce. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Pipeline development: Actively recognize, certify, and prioritize directs within your allocated vertical. Use a integration of outgoing procurement, client recommendations, and market analysis to build a robust pipeline of premium quality avenues.
  • Merchant pitching & transaction closure: Lead comprehensive transaction cycles from first reach out through needs evaluation, pitching, initiative design, and concluding orientation.
  • Project sample management: Oversee a project sample of active merchants within your vertical. Comprehend their business intensely, recognize avenue for development, and fulfill the role of their internal support at Paystack.
  • Strategic account growth: Recognize upsell and cross-sell avenues by aligning merchant targets with the full range of Paystack’s offerings.
  • Analytics-based findings: Evaluate internal data collections and merchant effectiveness to surface practical findings. Convert payment practices into growth strategic guidance for both internal cross-functional teams and external participants.
  • Cross-operational partnership: Collaborate directly with Product, Engineering, Risk & Adherence, and Assist teams to allow merchant hurdles and shape Paystack’s roadmap through on-the-ground findings.
  • Expert influence & vertical proficiency: Become a domain specialist within your vertical. Distribute findings with peers, speak at industry events, and stand for Paystack in strategic conversations.
