Primary duties

You will be assisting the Terminal Guard Manager with the development, execution, and servicing & maintenance of a strong protection risk mitigation strategy program. Making sure adherence with the organization’s Worldwide Guard Structure, ISPS Code, APM Terminals Ways of Operating further executing and upholding supporting guidelines and making sure local legal adherence with direction from the Country Risk Manager. This includes responsibility for building robust, efficient connections with within and outside the organization participants across the terminal, specialist peers in the country, local law enforcement, and local external guard risk mitigation strategy participants.

Guard Methods: 

  • Offer a safe and secure operating environment for employees to operate within.
  • Supervise and track local guard circumstance to pro-actively recognize guard threats, vulnerabilities, and risks and ensure commensurate treatment options are in place, offering prompt and precise status updates, managing guard issue resolution process mechanisms and risk risk reduction standardized processes.
  • Serve as the Terminal Port Facility Security guard per ISPS legislation and execute PFSO duties and preserve Terminal ISPS certification per legislation.
  • Offer assistance during the formation, servicing & maintenance, and dispatch of an efficient Business Continuity & Adaptability Structure making sure all Crisis Management and Crisis-management Strategies and connected standardized processes are current and tested routinely.
  • Guarantee adherence possessing applicable guard legislation as directed; and monitoring of the terminal’s local guard risk mitigation strategy service providers, to guarantee efficient service dispatch assisting business targets.
  • Dispatch of APM Terminals Nigeria commute risk mitigation strategy guidelines and standardized processes, making sure employees movement occurs safely; sharing information all commute risk prevention/risk reduction offerings the business possesses in place to guarantee the physical and mental health and well-being of teammates when commuting for the business and that all JMP’s are enabled.
  • Execute thorough inquiries of guard incidents and matters supplying complete case files for internal and/ or external disciplinary and/ or litigation and further assisting the Terminal Corporate head, and the Country Risk Manager in the investigative of severe guard incidents affecting APM Terminals employee’s, assets, processes, or reputation.
  • Ensure commensurate secrecy and neutrality are preserved, assess current prevention/risk reduction measures, and advise on suitable, maintainable initiatives, where feasible.
  • Preserve a thorough consciousness of national and local guard guidelines and legislation, organisation guard rules and standardized processes and keep current with group guard concerns.
  • Make sure that guard regulatory framework, strategies and standardized processes are executed, current, amended, and where necessary tested routinely.
  • Build and preserve a terminal wide culture of guard risk mitigation strategy group in accord with Terminal Executive guidance through the active information exchange of local circumstance guard risk briefings, orientation of new employees and guard risk advisories to all employees and visitors making sure initiative-driven execution of maintainable, commensurate prevention/risk reduction measures.
  • Regulate financial plans for guard processes and track expenditures.
  • Carry out guard associated development of employees and preserve connected records which includes evaluation of qualifications and connected development needs.
  • Carry out efficient effectiveness reviews and train all staff through official and informal channels.
  • Establish measuring resources and evaluate guard associated methods and staff routinely to recognize, endorse and execute avenues for advancement.
  • Proactively preserve and enhance own Guard Management skills in meeting with Terminal Executive guidance and the Country Risk Manager.
  • Train and mentor terminal guard teams to guarantee industry standards, team cohesion, ability and ongoing development to solutions offered assisting the business targets.

We Are Seeking

  • At least 5 years + expertise in a Guard Manager Level position inside the maritime and harbor operations sector with a positive document in the dispatch of sector business targets.
  • Must possess applicable specialist Guard Management/Risk mitigation strategy accredited certification/ accreditation e.g., CSMP, CPP or similar.
  • Must possess in date ISPS – PFSO certification.
  • Prior related experience possessing served with public law enforcement and/ or intelligence service a plus.
  • Requires an deep understanding of guard standardized processes in-particular:
  • Journey management
  • Issue resolution process and management
  • Execution and management of Physical Protection Operational structures
  • Guard Processes Centre processes and connected technical guard operational structures (which includes but not limited to surveillance, entry management, vehicle tracking telematics, staff tracking, fire alarms etc…) for the purposes of spotting, analysing, and responding to guard incidents
  • Deep knowledge of the political and guard interfaces across the region and sector zones of processes.
  • A solid experience and expertise in investigation methods, methods and documentation drafting necessary.
  • Must possess outstanding documented and spoken communication with the capability to convert into efficient spoken communication and documented summaries/ demonstrations at all levels.
  • Requires the highest level of honesty and reliability, tact, and discretion, with the capability to head in high stress conditions remaining calm with the capability to productively prioritize, solve challenges and implement duty whilst being capable to direct others in times of crisis.
  • Have the capability to forge robust and efficient connections and settle differences across corporate, public, and private boundaries.
  • Must be self-driven, have a positive mindset and lead with the capability to support to a team-based, cross-cultural work environment.
  • A exhibited resumed career advancement within Guard / Risk mitigation strategy.
