Job Description
Overview
We are looking for a strategic, visionary, and implementation-driven Trade service managerto head and scale our international trade and export initiatives. This position is pivotal to our growth plan, with direct duty for conceptualizing goods, strategic collaborations, and business frameworks that enable Nigerian and African businesses to trade internationally — faster, more securely, and with fewer obstacles. You will own the comprehensive development of our export trade solutions, which includes trade finance, recordkeeping facilitation, adherence, and client orientation, while partnering with authorities, banks, logistics associates, and internal cross-functional teams.
Primary duties
- Formulate and execute the worldwide trade and export plan in alignment with Clearer’s cross-border settlement targets.
- Work alongside the product and technical groups to design and initiate trade/export goods (e.g., trade finance, export recordkeeping channels, FX hedging resources).
- Build and sustain connections with local and international trade bodies, banks, freight and customs associates, export councils, and compliance-related agencies.
- Head a team to advise customers (exporters, manufacturers, SMEs) on adherence, international market entry, export preparedness, and financing.
- Supervise trade recordkeeping methods, ensure alignment with international trade rules (AfCFTA, INCOTERMS, etc.), and oversee connected risks.
- Recognize trade avenues across West Africa and other emerging markets; work on expanding Clearer’s service coverage regionally and internationally.
- Stand for Clearer at trade forums, summits, and compliance-related roundtables.
- Formulate white papers, regulatory framework summaries, and export advisors in partnership with promotion.
Credentials
- Bsc in International Trade, Business Management, Economics, Finance, or relevant field (MSC will be an added advantage).
- At least 5 years of expertise in international trade, export finance, or cross-border payments, ideally in financial technology, banking, or trade facilitation bodies.
- Proven competence in trade/export processes, trade finance instruments (LCs, warranties), and international adherence guidelines.
- Robust network within trade ecosystem: NEPC, NEXIM Bank, Customs, shipping lines, ECOWAS trade groups, and applicable ministries.
- Strong insight of *cross-border settlement*, FX rule, and payment structure in Nigeria and across Africa.
- Outstanding executive guidance, bargain, and verbal abilities.
