Circumstance

Established in 1951, IOM is the top inter-governmental company in the site of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental associates. IOM is devoted to supporting humane and orderly migration for the advantage of all. It does so by offering solutions and guidance to governments and migrants.  The International Company for Migration (IOM) possesses been executing Mental Health and Psychosocial Assist (MHPSS) projects in Nigeria since 2014. The projects pursue to handle the psychosocial needs of the displaced populations and their organizer group, as affected by the on-going crisis. Under direct oversight of the Protection/MHPSS Program Manager and close synchronization with the Protection/MHPSS employees, the incumbent will support to the execution of the Mental Health and Psychosocial Assist initiatives in Plateau, Taraba, and Kaduna states, as part of the crisis-management. More especially, the candidate will be in charge of the items listed obligations:

Duties

• Protect privacy in all engagements with recipients and observe ethical procedures. 
• Record recipient information at the site level precisely in intake forms and modify site records.
• Collect and offer statistics from site teams and other suppliers to the manager to assist evaluation and documentation project setup for psychosocial and protection-associated initiatives. 
• Help in organizing information from site teams and other suppliers to assist the project setup of precise documentation for all psychosocial and protection-associated initiatives.
• Assist supervising of teams in the reachable zones by engaging in synchronization sessions and assisting with development initiatives as necessary.
• Help in arranging missions, forums, sessions, workshops, development sessions and other project events, in synchronization with the manager, project, project supervisor, international professionals, and other key associates. 
• Work in close partnership with the protection integration specialist in addition to GBV officer and National Organizer officer to assist initiatives that handle the ongoing needs of vulnerable groups, which includes women and girls, in prevention-associated initiatives.
• Help in strengthening current referral operational structures and networks of psychosocial/protection service vendors by assisting synchronization and information exchanging.
• Assist the execution of psychosocial interventions at the site level by assisting with recordkeeping and client engagement as needed. 
• Coordinate consistent visits by collecting and organizing documentation from the psychosocial assist and protection teams and sending them to supervisors.
• Coordinate possessing applicable governmental, non-governmental (Nonprofit organizations), international entities at the site level on MHPSS and protection concerns, offering status reports upon demand.
• Assist the consolidation of MHPSS/Protections Principles into the daily project initiatives.
• Help with informal translation or explanation of simple documents or messages between English and local languages, as needed.
• Help with project visibility and information exchange initiatives by assisting project setup of materials, site-level outreach, and synchronization with messaging team.  
• Perform responsibility commute to difficult site sites as necessary. 
• Execute other obligations as allocated.

Expertise:

Expertise in a similar assist position, ideally inside the humanitarian or development situations. Understanding with local networks, institutions, and participants in the allocated regions

Competencies:

• Effective communication competencies and capability to capability follow direction on psychosocial/protection assist initiatives.
• Capability to preserve precise records and help in documentation project setup.
• Capability to operate jointly with teammates and associates from multifaceted profile.

Languages:

• Practical understanding of the local language
• IOM’s formal languages are English, French and Spanish.
• Competence of language(s) necessary will be particularly assessed during the selection process, which may comprise of documented and/or spoken communication evaluations.
