Safety supervisor at Ganfeng Lithium Industry Limited in Keffi, Nasarawa

Position Objective

The Safety supervisor is in charge of making sure the workplace safety and wellness of all employees, service providers, and visitors on the mining on-site. The position includes supervising adherence with safety rules, carrying out risk evaluations, development workers on safe procedures, and making sure compliance to mining industry safety guidelines and government rules.

Primary duties

• Execute and ensure adherence to on-site-specific HSE (HSE) rules and standardized processes.
• Carry out routine on-site inspections and hazard recognition, making sure corrective actions are taken.
• Track mining processes to guarantee adherence with safety guidelines and use of PPE.
• Explore all accidents, incidents, and near misses in-field; organize documentation and endorse preventive measures.
• Carry out risk evaluations for blasting, drilling, hauling, and other mining initiatives.
• Offer safety induction and toolbox talks to employees, service providers, and visitors.
• Organize crisis-management strategies and arrange drills specific to mining risks (e.g., fire, collapse, toxic gas exposure).
• Ensure proper managing, storage, and disposal of explosives, chemicals, and hazardous materials.
• Preserve safety records, licenses, and compliance-related recordkeeping.
• Coordinate with government authorities, inspectors, and external auditors as necessary.
• Advance a robust safety culture through uninterrupted consciousness and enforcement.

Credentials & Qualifications

• Bsc or Certification in Work-related Health & Safety, Ecological Science, Mining Engineering, or relevant field.
• Specialist Health, safety, and environment accreditation (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, ISPON) is highly preferred.
• At least 2 – 5 years demonstrated expertise as a Safety supervisor in mining or heavy industry.
• Deep understanding of mining safety rules, work-related health guidelines, and crisis-management.
• Robust observational, status updates, and analytical abilities.
• Capability to educate, shape, and ensure adherence to adherence among workers at all levels.
• Physically suit and capable to operate in challenging and hazardous environments.
