Programme Overview

  • The StreFas Project goals to reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions through regenerative agricultural procedures and at the same time formulate an welcoming, maintainable, ability to scale, and flexible regenerative agriculture initiative to assist smallholder farmers (SHFs) and local SMEs (aggregators) be more resilient and generate low-carbon grains in Nigeria.
  • The three-year project will offer a secured organized market for farmers to generate premium quality grains annually, with a significant quantity of grains generated from environmentally maintainable procedures.
  • The project goals to effect up to 25,000 SHFs directly as recipients of the programme.
  • Notably, StreFas will sustain and scale up the successful elements of the regenerative agriculture aviator of the Conceptualizing Welcoming Grain Full operational cycles in Nigeria (DIGVCN) project.

Position Overview

  • The Technical Manager -Strengthening Farmers and SMEs Adaptability through Climate Smart Grain Generation in Nigeria (StreFas) shall report to the oversight of the Country Director/Programme Director to offer entire project IT assistance to the StreFas team in Kaduna and Nasarawa States and the objective is to reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions through regenerative agricultural procedures.
  • This objective will be accomplished primarily through upskilling Maize, Rice, Sorghum, and Soybean farmers in regenerative agricultural procedures.
  • S/he will offer IT assistance to coordinate farmer conductual adjustment from conventional agriculture to regenerative and climate-adjusted agriculture.
  • In addition, s/he will offer direction while operating closely with the Programme manager to oversee connections with donors, executing associates, and sub-awardees to attain project goals.

Primary Processes & Duties

  • Offer technical monitoring of the project’s interventions connected with the reduction of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions through regenerative agricultural procedures. S/he will be the technical head coordinating initiatives targeted at delivering farmer conductual adjustment from conventional agriculture to regenerative and climate-adjusted agriculture.
  • Collaborate with the Programme Manager to participate the applicable practice teams internally to get maximum assist that ensures the on-time completion of the project.
  • Enhance team technical skilled and make sure that members are adequately capacitated to carry out their respective project initiatives and upskilled in critical zones of the project which includes regenerative agricultural procedures and carbon credit calculations. Train and build the technical capacity of site employees on regenerative agricultural procedures.
  • In partnership with the Programme Manager, formulate development syllabus for farmers and organize all necessary development, which includes development-of-trainers (ToTs), and verify that every development documented guides are current throughout the life of the project.
  • Collaborate with the Programme Manager and the M&E, and Learning (MEL) expert to guarantee proper and prompt documentation of the programme for internal information exchange and action. Assist the exchanging of industry standards and lessons learned from the project and programme information exchange initiatives.
  • Adjust project approaches, as needed, to reach targets and achievements connected with GHG Emissions reduction and risk reduction targets and the adoption of regenerative agricultural procedures.
  • With the MEL Expert to evaluate the effect of the project’s interventions and ensure premium quality data is being collected to show project outcomes, especially connected with Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions reduced/mitigated through regenerative agricultural procedures.
  • Support to donor documentation and demonstrations, and collaborate with the Programme Manager to stand for the project at external sessions and events.
  • Evaluate the differences in SMEs (Aggregators)/SHFs domain expertise and capacity and formulate adequate technical development to boost efficiency.
  • Comprehend, respect, and advance TechnoServe’s values, aspiration, and plan in the execution of allocated obligations.
  • Any other duty that may be allocated about the continuously adapting needs of the project.

Credentials

  • An Postgraduate degree in Crop Science, Agronomy, or other applicable field and a minimum of 7 years of applicable industry experience with a Bsc. Alternatively, 5 years with a Masters’ academic qualification.
  • Exhibited expertise and comprehension of regenerative agriculture, carbon credits, and greenhouse gas emission reduction through regenerative procedures.
  • Proven expertise in top technical studies which includes ecological consequence evaluation, baseline, and endline assessment studies, and so on.
  • Expertise operating in Nigeria is desirable.
