Job Description
Role summary
We are seeking people who are committed to assisting refugees and people forced to flee. If you are those people, the Norwegian Refugee Council in Nigeria is seeking an passionate and driven Wash Organizer (Building) Northeast Nigeria Maiduguri to join our team. The Wash organizer (Building) will organize the building initiatives in the site. She/he shall ensure the project setup of building work strategies, alignments of technical designs, BoQs, spot checks, and oversight of the building works, and offer IT assistance for combined initiatives. The candidate will also collaborate with Wash officer, Shelter FSL, and Education project Officers in the site to guarantee on-time completion of building initiatives and will help the structure managers in the entire organizing and design of (future) projects.
Duties Generic duties:
- Organize WASH programme in Mubi, along with WASH PM: initiatives, financial plans, project records in line with proposals, plans, and donor qualifications.
- Offer advancement documentation/donor documentation and precise finalization documentation as necessary.
- Oversee and track vendor works, works carried out by Routine/Reward work, and/or repairs, which includes accurate usage, requirements of materials, and general quality of the works
- Instructs and aids team members, service vendors, and local and technical associates.
- In partnership, its manager actively engages in the talent acquisition of team members e.g. enumerators.
- Conceptualizes the necessary resources for the WASH programme according to the manager's directions (drawing, requirements, technical requirements, service agreement, stock, and use of building materials, etc.).
- Engage in the execution of the supervising strategy of initiatives assigned by the manager,
- Ensures the archiving of all project documents.
- Work alongside applicable local governing bodies and local associates [Ministry of Water, RUWASSA etc, participate sectoral operating groups, and link with primary stakeholders.
Specific duties:
- Support to the development of evaluation forms, tracking software, and technical designs (e.g., BoQs, designs, etc.) in partnership with Monitoring and evaluation and WASH Manager.
- Recognize dilapidated school buildings, latrines, and water facilities and carry out technical evaluations.
- Support to producing circumstance-suitable designs for school, latrines, and water operational structures, conforming to SPHERE/cluster guidelines
- Combine group approaches, gender and disability sensitivity, Do No Harm/protection integration, ecological sensitivity, and skills development into all initiatives as suitable.
- Assist inputs for GORS data
- Oversight of local execution associates
- Project setup of BoQ’s, building designs, oversee building/rehabilitation of water schemes and WASH structure, and project setup of finalization certifications.
- Oversee Group projects & hygiene awareness initiatives
- Scale up and diversify WASH functional capability with assist from WASH PM e.g., Combined Programming, Regenerative Design
- Assist addition of market-based approaches in WASH where suitable
- Mainstream Protection in WASH projects, in line with NRC’s Safe & Welcoming Programming.
