Role summary

If you are those people, the Norwegian Refugee Council in Nigeria is seeking an passionate, driven and Skilled WASH Officer (Building) to join our team in Northeast, Nigeria Yola.
Duties Generic duties:
- Offer IT assistance for education initiatives, which includes building, rehabilitation, and behavioural adjustment programs like hygiene awareness and sanitation.
- Track and record milestone tracking, making sure alignment with proposals and donor qualifications.
- Carry out inspection procedures of structure (e.g., shelters, latrines, water operational structures) and WASH facilities.
- Build the capacity of school employees and group members through development and training.
- Stand for NRC in group synchronization forums, offering technical response.
Specific duties:
- Oversee the building/rehabilitation of classrooms/TLS and WASH structure (e.g., water points, Overhead water tank, sanitation facilities), making sure compliance to designs and guidelines.
- Adjust engineering resources (checklists, BoQs, data collection forms) for site use.
- Carry out consistent site visits to examine materials, workmanship, and regulatory adherence.
- Support to the technical requirements of building materials based on locally acceptable and accessible materials and track material supplies (Quantity & Quality).
- Head hygiene awareness marketing and behavioural adjustment initiatives, adjusting NRC structured approaches to local situations.
- Educate group members and school employees on WASH procedures and structure servicing & maintenance.
- Send on a weekly basis activity documentation, which includes hurdles and strategic guidance.
- In partnership with the manager, actively engage in the project setup of ToRs for the selection of team members e.g. Local bricklayers and carpenters as suitable.
- Formulate the necessary building resources for the combined CC’s according to the manager's directions (drawing, requirements, technical requirements, service agreement, stock, and use of building materials, etc.).
- Engage in the execution of the supervising strategy of initiatives assigned by the manager,
- Ensures the archiving of all project documents – project photos, BoQ’s and technical drawings, which includes minutes of sessions.
- Preserve a system of rational regulate over the materials and resources used, while mentioning the quality of the material secured, and make sure that all building works are in line with national and local standard procedures.
- Make sure that 10% retention on building initiatives achieves their targets inside the set timeframe;
- Make sure that initiatives advance responsibility to recipients, gender and protection sensitivity, and efficient addition in programming
- Offer consistent documentation at the necessary frequency and in the necessary manner, record the outcomes, and keep thorough records.
Credentials
- Hold a Academic qualification in EHA, Hydraulics, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Public Works, Architecture, or its equivalent.
- Higher education certifications shall be assessed as a desirable asset.
- At least 3 years of expertise operating as a Program officer in a humanitarian/recovery circumstance
- Reliable expertise in the principles of WASH in a contradictory environment
- Previous expertise operating in sophisticated and volatile situations
- Recorded outcomes connected with the role’s duties
- Good expertise in English of both verbal and professional writing.
