Job Description
Position Overview
The Divisional Chief of Aviation will head the organizational approach, business monitoring, and growth of the aviation division across all operational zones. The position holder will supervise the offering of a broad spectrum of highly accredited aviation solutions tailored to meet the needs of private and corporate customers across Africa, which includes Private Jet Charters, Aerial Surveys & Surveillance, Ticketing & Booking arrangements and General Aviation Solutions. The position also comprises coordinating flight processes, servicing & maintenance, safety, adherence, and business development to assist productive, safe, and ability to scale aviation solutions.
Primary duties
- Formulate and execute business plans for solutions like Private Jet Charters, Aerial Surveys, Ticketing, and General Aviation.
- Oversee aviation processes which includes flight planning, aircraft preparedness, and ground managing.
- Supervise comprehensive aviation processes, which includes flight solutions, servicing & maintenance, safety, adherence, and fleet management across all business bases.
- Ensure most effective asset utilization and service dispatch across all aviation segments. Supervise hiring process, development, and management of pilots, ground crew, and managerial employees.
- Build, head, and retain a top-performing aviation executive guidance team, making sure an efficient business hierarchy that aids scale and effectiveness.
- Advocate an environment that fosters safety and operations excellency, making sure full compliance to international and national aviation guidelines and rules.
- Lead the growth and diversification of aviation solutions, recognizing new markets and business-related avenues to improve income and market distribute. Head growth programs across African markets.
- Offer monitoring for aviation financial effectiveness, which includes financial planning, expense management, and financial funding organizing to guarantee profit margin and long-term viability.
- Preserve and Build connection with primary stakeholders, which includes compliance-related governing bodies, strategic associates, high-value customers, and internal senior management.
- Ensure full adherence with national and international aviation rules.
- Carry out consistent safety audits and execute crisis-management procedures.
- Stay informed on aviation technical solutions and combine operational structures for planning, servicing & maintenance, and customer interaction.
- Stand for the aviation division in Board-level discussions, industry forums, audits, and talks, positioning it as a centre of operations excellency.
Qualifications
- Academic qualification in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Engineering, Business Management or a relevant field.
- At least 15 years’ expertise in the aviation ministry with a minimum of 5 years in top level management.
- A MSC or applicable specialist certification is a plus.
- Exhibited competence in legal adherence, safety management operational structures, and international aviation guidelines (ICAO, NCAA, EASA or equivalent).
- Expertise monitoring flight processes, servicing & maintenance programs, and fleet management within a business-related or charter aviation environment.
- Robust business-related strategic insight with a record of pushing income increase, process effectiveness, and strategic business development in aviation.
- Deep knowledge of aviation funding, financial planning, and cost optimisation, with duty for divisional P&L effectiveness.
- Specialist certifications which includes an Airline Transport Aviator Licence (ATPL), Aircraft Maintenance technician’s Licence, or applicable postgraduate credentials are highly preferred.
