Position Overview
The Anaesthetic Nursing officer’s main duty is to do patient assist and track vital signs post-surgery to guarantee smooth and quick recovery post-surgery and ensure the wellbeing of patients.
Role summary Before Surgery:
- Arranges tools needed for the patient to safely undergo Anesthesia
- Checking and setting up the anesthetic machine
- Getting ready intravenous drugs
- Getting ready intravenous therapy management tools
- Getting ready variety of devices to preserve the patient's airway (e.g.laryngeal masks, endotracheal tube)
- Sharing information with the patient when they arrive into the operating theatre
- Preserve peripheral intravenous entry.
- Preserving adequate anesthesia.
- Carrying out Anesthetics checklist procedures.
- Establishing and securing an airway.
- Making sure that patients are positioned in such a way not to cause discomfort or injury during their standardized process.
- Perioperative evaluate of surgical patients.
During Surgery:
- Supervising and preserving patients' vital signs and anesthesia depth.
- Ensure Collection and evaluation of patient (blood) samples.
- Obtaining and managing transfusion fluids and tools.
- Work closely under the oversight of the Advisor Anesthesiologist.
After Surgery:
- Waking the patient after the surgery.
- Removing airway devices.
- Transferring patients to post-operative care units
- Care and servicing & maintenance of critical resources.
- Close supervising of patients’ vital signs, patient’s post op state and other critical indicators.
Credentials
- Must be a Registered Nursing officer
- A Post Basic certification in Anesthetic Nursing is mandatory
- A minimum of 3 years work expertise in the same position
- A good expertise in peri-operatives is essential for the position.
