Market Intelligence Officer at the African Union (AU) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Objective of Position

This position is critical to making sure informed procurement decisions, optimizing stock chain effectiveness, and optimizing asset distribution across Africa CDC Member States.

Main Processes

The Market Intelligence Officer will assist the Africa CDC Stock Chain Division in strengthening the pooled procurement mechanism through strong market evaluation and intelligence. This position is critical to making sure informed procurement decisions, optimizing stock chain effectiveness, and optimizing asset distribution across Africa CDC Member States.

Specific Duties

• Carry out complete market analysis and evaluation to recognize practices, risks, and avenues in the procurement of medical goods, health products, and associated solutions.
• Formulate and preserve a market intelligence DB to assist evidence-based strategic judgment for the pooled procurement mechanism.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities, pricing plans, and attractive landscapes to guide procurement plans.
• Deliver promptly and implementable market findings to assist planned procurement, supplier talks, and agreement administration.
• Work alongside internal participants, which includes procurement, finance, and technical teams, to align market intelligence with corporate targets.
• Assist the development of risk risk reduction plans connected with stock chain disruptions and market volatility.
• Track worldwide and regional stock chain dynamics, compliance-related modifications, and geopolitical factors affecting procurement initiatives.
• Organize consistent documentation, demonstrations, and update materials for top level management and external participants.
• Support to capacity-building programs for Member States in market evaluation and procurement organizing.
• Any other associated tasks may be allocated by supervisors.

Or

A Bsc in Stock Chain Management, Logistics, Business Management, or a relevant field requiring at least 5 years of related experience in market analysis, market intelligence, stock chain management, or procurement. Expertise in the health sector, especially in the procurement of medical goods and health products, is highly preferred Expertise operating in an international company or community health environment 

Necessary Competencies:

• Competence in any of the AU operating languages (Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Kiswahili and Spanish) and practical understanding in other AU Languages is a plus.
• Outstanding verbal and professional writing competencies
• Robust logical and analysis competencies with the capability to analyze sophisticated data and industry trends.
• Competence in data evaluation resources and market intelligence channels.
• Initiative-driven, meticulous, and outcomes-lead Capability to oversee logistics during health crises and rapid deployments.
• Proficient in arranging sophisticated logistics initiatives across various countries.
• Clear and clear communication with internal teams, vendors, and national governing bodies.
• Capacity to evaluate logistics effectiveness data and enhance dispatch processes.
• Skilled in Office productivity software and logistics/Enterprise platform planning operational structures (e.g., SAP, WMS).
• Capability to operate under pressure, oversee contesting key focuses, and take action adaptively to continuously adapting needs

Tenure of Assignment:

The Assignment will be made on a temporary agreement for a period of one (1) year, of which the first three (3) months will be assessed as a probationary period. Thereafter, the agreement may be renewed for a similar period subject to financing accessibility, acceptable effectiveness and accepted outputs.

Language:
