Overview

Under the entire oversight of the Head of Purpose (COM) in Nigeria and the direct oversight of the Head Migration Health specialist in Nigeria, and in close partnership with the Program Assist Unit (PSU) and the Regional Migration Health officer, successful applicant will be in charge of IT assistance for community health intervention solutions regarding Migration Health Evaluations (HAP) and other program executed by the IOM Migration Health Division in Nigeria. 

Duties

  • Arrange, and organize community health interventions in the HAP circumstance. Such interventions may comprise of surveillance for infectious diseases, outbreak preparedness and response, health education and advancement, community health solutions for organizer networks, communication link with community health institutions and additional tasks.
  • Assist the purpose to establish the level and scope of community health responses in terms of entire and business targets. Support to the development of IOM Nigeria plan for Community health at the country level. 
  • Coordinate the consolidation of health evaluation initiatives into the entire migration-associated programming of the Country Workspace through close partnership with the various units at the Country Workspace level. Advise IOM teammates on the link between the Health Evaluation Program with other teams which includes Migrant Protection and Support (MPA), Work Migration, Immigration and Border Management (IBM), Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), 
  • Offer technical inputs to formulate upgraded operational structures for consistent supervising and status updates on health project accomplishments, hurdles, and strategic needs. In conjunction with the Migration Health specialist (MHO) / CMHO, help in executing and checking in these operational structures. 
  • Track and assess the quality of health care offered to IOM recipients and bring to the manager concerns with adherence to national and IOM worldwide guidelines. 
  • Carry out migration health evaluation to fulfil the technical qualifications of the resettlement countries. Carry out evaluations of the health needs of migrants and mobile populations, which includes priority causes of ill-health; prepare strategies to handle these for entry to the manager. 
  • Recognize and propose possibility new projects on migration health that could/should be conceptualize. Engage in their drafting and development in meeting with the Head Migration Health specialist. 
  • Organize and coordinate the execution of IOM’s Migration Health initiatives with the Ministry of Health and the UN Country Team associates, and collaborate with applicable health governing bodies in recognizing differences and needs connected with the health of migrants 
  • Assist capacity strengthening of IOM and its associates to handle the community health programming in a aligned way and circulate applicable standard procedures and information materials. Formulate development modules and materials, and fulfill the role of trainer/ facilitator in IOM’s Migration Health development in close synchronization with the CMHO. 
  •  Arrange systematic collection, processing, and evaluation of migration health data. Offer periodic in addition to as-needed status updates to MHD for MH initiatives. 
  •  Ensure the secrecy of the medical information of IOM recipients. 
  •  Execute such other associated obligations as may be allocated

Credentials Education:

  • MSC in a health-relevant field (which includes Medicine, Health sciences, community health) from an accredited academic institution with two years of applicable industry experience; or 
  • Academic qualification in a health-relevant field (which includes Health Sciences, Community health management) from an accredited academic institution with four years of applicable industry experience. 
  • Permits to practice in the applicable medical site in Nigeria 

Expertise:

  • Expertise in program conceptualisation, supervising, status updates and assessment; 
  • Expertise in project development and capacity-building initiatives;
  • Expertise in coordinating with with governmental and diplomatic governing bodies in addition to with national and international institutions;
  • Understanding with financial and business management;
  • Expertise in arranging discussions, workshops and seminars with participants;
  • A minimum of four years of industry experience in worldwide community health and migration health-associated concerns, which includes in the circumstance of Humanitarian circumstance.
  • Specialist/structured training in epidemiology, M&E, Reproductive Health, or medical statistics is highly preferred.
  • Expertise in project development and management, development, and skills development.
  • Capability to organize cross-functional teams and establishing and preserving operating relations with top level government authorities, UN agencies, Nonprofit organizations, and Donors, which includes understanding with the humanitarian cluster system.
  • Exhibited capability to recognize, approach, and organize with participants of multifaceted profile and levels of proficiency.
  • Exhibited capability to oversee and direct employees and produce a collaborative environment.
  • Deep expertise in the extensive range of migration associated subject zones negotiated with by the Company; and, 
  • Expertise in UN and two-party donor programming.

Languages:

  • For all candidates, fluency in English  is essential (spoken communication and documented).  Practical understanding of local language is a plus.
  • IOM’s formal languages are English, French and Spanish.
  • Competence of language(s) necessary will be particularly assessed during the selection process, which may comprise of documented and/or spoken communication evaluations.
