Head Audit officer – Energy Sector at Independent Project Monitoring Company Limited (IPMC) in Lagos

Job Description

We are looking for an skilled Head Audit officer with broad knowledge in auditing inside the energy sector.
The preferred candidate will head audit collaborations, making sure adherence with compliance obligations, organizational guidelines, and industry guidelines.
This position requires robust critical thinking, executive guidance capabilities, and in-depth understanding of energy production, transmission, allocation, and trading processes.

Head and oversee complete audit collaborations across various segments of the energy sector, which includes production, transmission, allocation, and energy trading.
Strategize implement, and supervise financial, business, adherence, and IT audits tailored to the energy industry.
Assess internal regulates, risk mitigation strategy methods, and compliance frameworks specific to energy companies.
Recognize audit risks connected with energy generation, invoicing, legal adherence, ecological guidelines, and binding obligations.
Formulate thorough audit strategies, execute on-site activities, and organize clear, brief audit documentation with implementable strategic guidance.
Work alongside top level management and participants to convey audit findings and assist execution of corrective actions.
Stay informed on industry rules, accounting guidelines (e.g., IFRS, GAAP), and emerging practices affecting the energy sector.
Train and educate entry-level auditors, nurturing career advancement and making sure audit quality.
Organize with external auditors, compliance-related bodies, and other third parties during audit methods.
Utilize business intelligence and audit applications to improve audit effectiveness and performance.

Bsc in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or a relevant field. A MSC or specialist qualifications (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA) are highly preferred.
At least 7-10 years of auditing expertise, with a minimum of 5 years attentive on the energy sector.
Deep understanding of energy industry processes, compliance-related environment, and finance reporting qualifications.
Deep knowledge of risk evaluation, internal regulates, and adherence frameworks.
Established leadership competencies with expertise coordinating audit teams and sophisticated projects.
Outstanding logical, issue resolution, and verbal abilities.
Competence in audit management software and business intelligence resources.
Capability to operate independently and jointly in a dynamic environment.

Expertise auditing sustainable energy projects and long-term viability programs.
Understanding with energy trading channels and market rules.
Expertise in ecological, health, and safety (Environmental health and safety) adherence in the energy sector.
