Transport Officer at Self Help Africa in Abuja (FCT)

Position objective

SHA Nigeria is looking for a dependable and proficient Transport Officer (Driver) to join our team and assist the transportation of employees, goods, and assets to project sites, sessions, and other sites within and outside the city. The Transport Officer will be in charge of making sure safe, prompt, and productive transportation while preserving the company’s vehicle in good requirement. This position will require a dedication to safety, meticulousness, and clear communication with the logistics and program teams.

Key connections: Internal: 

Program, M&E & Learning, Financial administrative support, Procurement, Human resource and admin, Guard and Communications teams.

Expertise and Competencies:

• Expertise pushing in difficult road terms or remote zones is highly preferred.
• Expertise in vehicle servicing & maintenance and basic fix is a plus.
• Outstanding pushing competencies with a clean pushing document.
• Solid understanding of local traffic legal provisions and rules.
• Capability to adhere to guidance and plans precisely.
• Effective communication competencies, both verbal and documented.
• Capability to remain calm and formulated in stressful conditions.
• Robust meticulousness, especially in vehicle inspections and recordkeeping.
• Must be a good team player, and ready to be adaptable with work hours.
• Must be on time and dependable, reliable and truthful.
• Flexible and responsive disposition relative to the needs and processes of their obligations.
• Status updates and recordkeeping.

Language Qualifications:

Outstanding documented and spoken communication competence in English and applicable local language (Nigerian pidgin English, Hausa etc) is essential.
