Health officer, Polio at United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in Nigeria

Objective of the Task

Under the oversight of the Top level Health Manager/polio team supervisor, the incumbent will be operating as a member of the National Crisis Process Centre (NEOC), and will be deployed to polio outbreak states as a member of the Management Help desk (MST) according to the outbreak SOPs. The incumbent will be in charge of the design, management, implementation, M&E of conduct adjustment and community-related mobilization initiatives in assist of the country Polio strategize with a specific concentration on assist to zones of information exchange for polio eradication and for creating requirement for and uptake of immunization solutions and will work on other health interventions as needed.

Execution of SBC Initiatives:

• Guarantee promptness execution and capital disbursement of SBC initiatives at national and sub-national level.
• Work alongside, advise and/or advise GPEI and non GPEI polio associates to design SBC plans to address an outbreak of polio, which includes formulation, generation, and running test materials to arrange SBC events and initiatives to guarantee relation and involvement of key target groups, and maximum outreach and effect on conductual and community-related adjustment, which includes in humanitarian response.
• Verify/confirm the technical quality, uniformity and relevancy of communications plans, which includes materials that are conceptualize, generated and disseminated to target target groups (e.g. individuals, networks, government authorities, associates, media etc). Endorse suitable various media data layouts (e.g. print, digital/social platforms, TV/Radio, Web, group networks, etc.). Supervise the generation and execution of multi-media programs for adherence with targets and strategies that combine the latest evidence.
• Carry out SBC support initiatives with/for a variety of elements, participants, associates, networks, etc.
• Assist polio outbreak response and immunization endeavors evaluations and execution of their strategic guidance.
• Assist and head when needed proposal drafting and mobilization of assets to guarantee SBC and UNICEF polio response are fully financed.

Effect of Outcomes

Engage in corporate and/or inter-agency (UNCT; National UN Community-related and Conductual Adjustment Information exchange Roundtable) discussions and organizing to work alongside inter-agency associates/teammates in the GPEI, the GAVI and all immunization associated organizing and project setup of SBC support and asset mobilization programs which includes crises. The strategic and efficient development and execution of SBC support programs and goods directly effect on the capability of UNICEF to advance community-related, political and economic action and modifications in actions, community-related viewpoints, convictions, harmful community-related norms and actions by networks, individuals and society on children’s rights, survival and wellbeing. This in turn supports to optimizing the capability of UNICEF to fulfill its purpose to attain maintainable, locally owned, and concrete outcomes in optimizing the survival, development and wellbeing of children in the country.

The incumbent:

Makes decisions on suitable Community-related and Conductual Adjustment Information exchange structured approaches and approaches, technical assets necessary, quality and appropriateness of information exchange materials generated, target target groups to be reached, distribution of financial assets, in addition to timeframes across multiple initiatives, all of which will affect the outcomes of the polio eradication endeavors in Nigeria. Makes strategic guidance on business plans in the zones of information exchange for polio eradication; on suitable materials and media to reach target target groups; and on the way in which Community-related and Conductual Adjustment Information exchange should be combined into the country response strategy.

Qualifications

Education: Postgraduate degree in Community-related and Conductual Adjustment Information exchange, Community health, or other community-related/conductual sciences or public health zone (Health advancement, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Health Education, Biomedical Sciences, Community health) or a associated area, with emphasis on participatory information exchange, information exchange organizing, community-related mobilization, participatory analysis. Work Expertise: A at least seven (7) years progressively in charge work expertise in public or public health and Community-related and Conductual Adjustment Information exchange, the organizing and management of community-related information exchange program, which includes in immunization/polio. Profile in community health and robust leadership abilities would be highly assessed. Competencies: Expertise in ongoing progress updates in the fields of information exchange theory, inspirational psychology, adult learning theory, indigenous media, digital information exchange, group company and involvement, strategic information exchange organizing, conduct evaluation, formative analysis and assessment of information exchange interventions. Language Qualifications: Fluency in English is essential. Expertise in other UN languages is of added value.
