Position Overview
The accounting officer is in charge of preserving precise finance records, getting ready balance sheet and income statement, monitoring routine accounting processes, and making sure adherence with compliance-related and tax obligations. The perfect fit should possess robust expertise in finance reporting, money movement management, and accounting for foreign currency financial record typical of BDC processes.
Primary duties
- Preserve proper records of accounts using authorized financial system.
- Document routine forex financial record, cash inflows/outflows, and bank adjustments.
- Organize every month, every quarter, and yearly balance sheet and income statement (P&L, financial statement, money movement).
- Ensure precise recording of FX gains/losses and revaluations.
- Guarantee adherence with CBN finance reporting guidelines and relevant BDC financial rules.
- Organize and send statutory tax filings which includes VAT, WHT, PAYE, and organisation earnings tax in communication link with tax advisors or auditors.
- Help in the project setup and entry of financial returns necessary by compliance-related governing bodies which includes FIRS, CBN, and CAC.
- Track and project routine cash balances, which includes foreign and local currency roles.
- Help in coordinating liquidity to assist routine FX processes.
- Resolve bank accounts and preserve proper records of forex buys and sales.
- Execute financial controller standardized processes to reduce fraud and financial misstatements.
- Help in within and outside the organization audits, making sure prompt offering of evidence files.
- Track spending to guarantee alignment with authorized financial plans.
- Process employees wage processing and preserve precise records of salaries, perks, and statutory conclusions.
- Assist procurement and vendor payment methods by checking bills and getting ready payment vouchers.
- Preserve an structured submitting system of all financial documents for audit preparedness.
Credentials and Expertise
- At least a Bachelor's degree or Higher national diploma in Accounting, Finance, or associated discipline.
- 3–5 years of related experience, ideally in a financial service or BDC environment.
- A member of a professional body like ICAN, ACCA.
- Expertise in Crypto, USDT, is a plus.
- Solid understanding of Nigerian tax legal provisions, CBN standard procedures, and FX transaction accounting.
- Skilled in financial system (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar resources).
- Outstanding meticulousness, critical thinking, and honesty and reliability.
- Clear expression and planning abilities.
