Principal accountant at Machine and Equipment Corporation Africa Limited (MECA) in Abuja (FCT)

Position Overview

We are looking for a agile and skilled Principal accountant to head our financial strategic planning and operations in Abuja. This position is pivotal in pushing financial effectiveness, making sure legal adherence, and assisting executive strategic judgment through perceptive evaluation and status updates.

Primary duties

• Supervise the organization’s budgeting, financial planning, and predicting methods
• Organize and evaluate every month, every quarter, and yearly balance sheet and income statement
• Oversee money movement, operating capital, and liquidity to enhance financial health
• Guarantee adherence with tax legal provisions, IFRS, and other applicable financial rules
• Head internal regulate programs and risk mitigation strategy plans
• Organize external audits and coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and compliance-related bodies
• Oversee and train finance and accounting employees, nurturing a high-effectiveness culture
• Offer strategic financial findings to top level management for business expansion and financial funding decisions.

Credentials & Qualifications

• Bsc in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field; Master's degree is a robust advantage.
• A member of a professional body: Chartered Accounting officer (ICAN) necessary; ACCA or other applicable qualifications are a plus;
• At least 7 years progressive expertise in finance or accounting, with a minimum of 5 years in a executive function.

Competencies:

• Strong insight of IFRS, GAAP, and Nigerian tax rules
• Competence in finance platform (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks)
• Improved Excel competencies and financial modelling proficiency
• Robust logical, strategic thinking, and issue resolution capabilities
• Clear articulation, executive guidance, and stakeholder engagement competencies.
