Job Description
Objective of Position
The Junior accountant is allocated to assist the execution of the CLB mandate. In charge of preserving financial, accounting, managerial and treasury solutions in order to meet legislative qualifications and assist AU processes.
Main Processes
- Oversee a finalize financial operation of the Workspace which would comprise of a number of different and multifaceted processes and interconnected accounts of the financial system;
- Preserve project financial information in SAP system;
- Preserve money movement operational structures that is productive and responsive, in addition to getting ready every month bank adjustments.
- Engage in the yearly organizing and financial planning process to guarantee distribution of spending to the suitable financial support and track proper financial plan utilization to ascertain that financial plan appropriations are not overspent;
- Organize finance Management documentation to monitor productivity against financial plan and documentation the outcomes for executive review.
- Process and confirm all suppliers’ payments and make sure that the accompanying assisting documents are finalize and precise; Organize procurement process that would ensure the project receives quality and productive solutions in line with AU regulations and standardized processes;
- Execute managerial rules, and standardized processes that head to productive service dispatch;
- Make sure that precise and finalize accounting, status updates and internal regulate operational structures are functioning and that supporting records are preserved precisely;
- Make sure that all financial statement accounts are balanced.
- Organize money movement projections and track the resumed accessibility of capital to cover the qualifications of the project’s processes.
- Ensure the thoroughness and precision of financial data through the establishment of checklists and every month assessments of financial data;
- Preserve the fixed register and ensure the recognition and proper stock of tangible asset of the project;
- Execute any other financial associated obligations as may be allocated by supervisors.
Specific Duties
- Supervise and oversee the routine accounting and finance processes of the Purpose which includes prompt recording of financial record, cash management, banking, wage processing, outstanding bills and receivable and inventories.
- Organize and process employees salaries, improvements and other entitlements and ensure it is paid on time.
- Make sure that service vendors are paid on time for solutions carried out or fulfilled
- Preserve the tangible asset register and make sure that all assets are coded and accounted for properly
- Organize Financial statements / Statements for deliberation of the AU Headquarters and Donors in addition to the accreditation of general expenditures;
- Oversee and make sure that bank adjustments are done every month
- Make sure that financial records are precise, finalize and properly filed
- Help during audits by the Workspace of Internal Audit, AU Board of External Auditors and EC Auditors
- Any other obligations allocated by the Manager.
Or
- Bsc in Accounting or Finance or associated filed, with two (2) years of applicable professional background in the zones of Accounting/finance.
- Specialist qualifications which includes CPA, CA, ACCA, CIMA, CIA, etc. would be beneficial.
- Expertise in SAP, IPSAS and accounting bundles is a plus.
- Professional certification from a identified Institute will be an added benefit.

Tenure of Assignment:
The assignment will be made on a consistent term agreement for a period of three (3) years, of which the first twelve months shall be assessed as a probationary period. Thereafter, the agreement will be for a period of two years sustainable, subject to acceptable effectiveness and outputs.
Gender Integration:

Language:
Competence in one of the AU operating languages (Arabic, English, French, Kiswahili, Portuguese, and Spanish) is compulsory and fluency in another AU language is a plus.
