DBESL is looking for a meticulous, initiative-driven, and skilled Principal accountant to oversee and preserve our financial processes using QuickBooks Online. The preferred candidate must possess a solid experience in accounting inside the remote marine operations petroleum sector industry, which includes comprehension of project-based financial tracking, vendor payments, multi-currency financial record, and adherence with both Nigerian and international accounting guidelines.

Primary duties

  • Preserve the organization’s financial platform using QuickBooks Online with full duty for general ledger, outstanding bills/receivable, bank adjustments, and transaction entries.
  • Execute and oversee project-based accounting procedures to track revenues, expenses, and profit margin of each remote marine operations and marine solutions project.
  • Organize every month, every quarter, and yearly balance sheet and income statement, which includes Profit & Loss, Financial statement, and Money movement documentation.
  • Organize project invoicing, customer billing, and vendor payments in accordance with project implementation and binding achievements.
  • Oversee inter-organisation financial record and multi-currency accounts (USD, NGN, EUR).
  • Track financial plans vs actuals, and bring to attention any variances or risks to the executive team.
  • Guarantee adherence with all local tax rules (e.g. VAT, WHT, PAYE), and help with submitting returns and operating with auditors and tax governing bodies.
  • Assist the execution and refinement of expense management and financial planning standardized processes in sync with the organization’s remote marine operations processes.
  • Coordinate with PMs, procurement officers, and processes directs to guarantee precise financial tracking and cost distribution.

Credentials & Qualifications

  • Bsc in Accounting, Finance, or a associated discipline; specialist qualifications which includes ACA, ACCA, or CPA preferred.
  • At least 5 years of expertise in accounting, with a minimum of 3 years in the remote marine operations petroleum sector or marine logistics sector.
  • Exhibited competence in QuickBooks Online – which includes setup, customization, and improved status updates.
  • Understanding with remote marine operations negotiating, project-based financials, vessel accounting, and work bundle invoicing is highly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of Nigerian tax codes, statutory status updates, and adherence qualifications.
  • Strong capability in Excel spreadsheet software and other Workspace applications.
  • Expertise managing with external auditors and getting ready audit-prepared finance records.
  • Clear articulation competencies, meticulousness, and capability to operate independently under tight due dates.

Preferred Traits:

  • Expertise operating in a dynamic, high-growth environment, ideally in a project-oriented remote marine operations or engineering solutions firm.
  • Comprehension of vessel cost accounting, CAPEX/OPEX arranging, and funding models is a robust advantage.
  • Capability to adjust QuickBooks to oversee sophisticated project needs which includes timesheet consolidation, achievement invoicing, and cost-center status updates.
