Job Description
Position Overview
The WASH officer is in charge of coordinating and making sure the on-time completion of WASH initiatives in partnership with project employees, WASH planners, and the project process standard standardized process (SOP). The post holder is in charge of executing WASH initiatives at the response sites and coordinating with with the local government and the site workspace team. The WASH officer is also in charge of making sure the WASH humanitarian needs and differences are evaluated adequately which includes prevention and directing WASH actions such as water trucking process, WASH non-food item (NFI) allocation, water treatment chemicals, rehabilitate/servicing & maintenance, top the project setup of WASH combined response strategies and offer IT assistance on Hygiene and Sanitation advancement activity.
Duties Crisis-management:
- Rapid Needs Evaluation: Carry out quick evaluations to recognize WASH needs in crisis-affected zones (water entry, sanitation, hygiene procedures)
- WASH Organizing and Execution: Formulate and execute WASH strategies, covering water stock, sanitation structure, and hygiene awareness
- Synchronization: Work alongside local governing bodies, Nonprofit organizations, and participants for efficient WASH interventions
- M&E: Track effect and assess performance of WASH interventions to guarantee responsiveness to group needs
Specialized skill:
- Water Quality and Safety: Ensure the safety and quality of water suppliers and allocation operational structures
- Sanitation and Hygiene: Advance sanitation and hygiene procedures (e.g., handwashing, menstrual hygiene, waste disposal)
- Structure: Oversee building, rehabilitation, and servicing & maintenance of WASH structure which includes water points, latrines, and handwashing stations
- Hygiene awareness: Head hygiene promotion marketing and development sessions for networks
Logistics & supply:
Procurement: Supervise prompt procurement and allocation of WASH materials and tools Logistics: Oversee transport, storage, and allocation methods for WASH-associated inventory
Skills development:
Group Mobilization: Engage and mobilize networks in WASH-associated initiatives Development: Supply development for local employees and group members on WASH industry standards
Data Secrecy & Safeguarding:
Comprehend and ensure adherence to principles of data secrecy Verify that every duty are in sync with the company's Safeguarding Regulatory framework Execution
Qualifications Education:
Bsc in community health, ecological science, engineering, Psychology, Community-related work, Social advancement, or a relevant field A Project coordination Specialist (PMP) accreditation would be beneficial
Expertise:
- At least 1 year expertise in WASH programming, especially in crisis
- situations
- Comprehension of child development concerns, which includes expertise in child rights, child protection, child welfare, childcare and parenting; and applicable local and national legal provisions, rules and procedures
Competencies:
- Robust domain expertise in water, sanitation, and hygiene
- Effective communication and people skills
- Capability to operate under pressure and in difficult environments
- Expertise in group mobilization and skills development
Languages:
Fluency in English is crucial; expertise in local languages in the zone of process is an asset.
