Position Overview
The Protection Officer will be in charge of top protection initiatives, which includes case management, consciousness marketing, public involvement, and client recommendations. The position requires solid understanding of protection principles, gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, and humanitarian guidelines, with the capability to operate closely with networks and participants.
Primary duties
- Execute protection initiatives in line with BOWDI’s purpose and donor qualifications.
- Oversee case management, psychosocial assist, and coordinate client recommendations for at risk individuals.
- Arrange group sensitization, consciousness, and development sessions on protection, rights, and safeguarding.
- Track and documentation protection risks, incidents, and practices in the group.
- Collaborate with associates, group key stakeholders, and applicable participants to strengthen protection mechanisms.
- Guarantee alignment to protection principles, which includes secrecy, safety, and dignity of recipients.
- Assist in conceptualizing and disseminating Information, Education, and Information exchange (IEC) materials.
- Organize prompt and precise documentation on protection initiatives.
Credentials & Qualifications
- Bsc in community-related sciences, Law, Psychology, Development Studies, or relevant field.
- At least 3-5 years’ expertise in protection, GBV, child protection, or humanitarian programming (NGO/INGO expertise is a plus).
- Deep knowledge of protection principles, human rights, gender, and safeguarding.
- Expertise in public involvement, case management, and referral pathways.
- Good expertise in Nigerian humanitarian circumstance, especially in dispute-affected zones.
- Clear articulation, facilitation, and documentation-skilled in writing.
- Fluency in English; expertise in Hausa, Kanuri, or other local languages is an asset.
- High level of honesty and reliability, empathy, and capability to protect privacy.
