Role summary

The Cardiothoracic Nursing officer delivers expert nursing care to patients undergoing surgical standardized processes of the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs inside the chest cavity.

Patient Care:

Supply evidence-based nursing care to patients before, during, and after cardiothoracic surgeries (CABG, valve replacements, thoracotomies, lung resections, transplants, etc.).

Partnership & Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and respiratory therapists to guarantee smooth care.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary rounds and care organizing sessions.
  • Help in intraoperative assist (e.g., managing instruments, making sure sterility, and offering surgeon support when needed).

Credentials & Qualifications

  • Education: Registered Nursing officer (RN) with a Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc) or equivalent.
  • Licensure: Ongoing Nursing and Midwifery Council permit (or equivalent in country of practice).
  • Expertise: 2–3 years of nursing expertise; a minimum of 1 year in cardiothoracic.
  • Qualifications: expertise accreditation in cardiothoracic/critical CCRN care nursing, BLS and ACLS necessary.

  • Robust clinical evaluation and critical thinking abilities.
  • Competence in ventilator and hemodynamic supervising.
  • Clear articulation and collaborative ability.
  • Capability to manage high-stress conditions and make quick, sound decisions.
