Role summary
You will be based in Lagos, Nigeria, within one of our local subsidiaries : Lekki Freeport Terminal. Status updates straight to the Head Processes Officer, you will be combined into the Processes Team and engage in different components of the maritime initiatives to guarantee the functioning of the initiatives at the port.
Position Overview
- We are seeking a Harbor operations Officer to head and supervise the day-to-day activities of maritime initiatives.
- This position is critical in making sure the smooth functioning of shipping, logistics, and harbor operations while preserving adherence with international maritime legal provisions and safety guidelines.
- As a Harbor operations Officer, you will be in charge of managing with various participants, which includes shipping companies, port governing bodies, and compliance-related bodies, to guarantee smooth processes.
- You will also play a main responsibility in optimizing process effectiveness, reducing expenses, and executing creative strategies to enhance total output.
Duties
- Supervise routine maritime processes, which includes shipping and port initiatives.
- Collaborate with the vessel organizing Manager to optimize processes.
- Guarantee adherence with international maritime legal provisions and safety guidelines.
- Organize with shipping companies, port governing bodies, and compliance-related bodies.
- Formulate and execute plans to enhance process effectiveness.
- Track and oversee financial plans, making sure cost-efficient processes.
- Head and train a team of maritime experts.
- Recognize and minimize risks linked to maritime processes.
- Execute ecological responsibility procedures in processes.
Qualifications
- In accordance with the offerings of Article L122-1 of the French National Service Code, only applicants aged between 18 and 28 who are European nationals will be qualified for this VIE programme.
- 5 years' higher education in Engineering, Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a relevant field
- Fluent in English and French
- Critical thinking and business strategic insight
- Visual communication and effective communication competencies
- Capability to operate in an international environment and work in/oversee remote teams
- Autonomous and pushing for outcomes
- Basic comprehension of TOS ( terminal operating system ) will be an added advantage point
- Proficient in Office productivity software (Excel, Powerpoint)
- Being a good team player and be capable to operate with minimal oversight
- Capability to operate under pressure in a dynamic environment
