Job Description
Primary duties
- Carry out complete diagnostic tests in hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, serology, immunology, and molecular diagnostics in accordance with Tonia Medical Diagnostics’ procedures.
- Confirm and analyze laboratory test outcomes precisely, offering critical data to physicians and healthcare vendors for patient management.
- Oversee and mentor entry-level scientists, laboratory technologists, and internship, making sure compliance to industry standards.
- Preserve, calibrate, and diagnose issues laboratory analyzers and tools (e.g., chemistry analyzers, hematology counters, PCR machines) to assurance dependable effectiveness.
- Execute and track internal quality assurance (IQC) and engage in external QA (EQA) schemes to guarantee the honesty and reliability of laboratory outcomes.
- Help the Laboratory Manager in conceptualizing and analyzing Standard Operating Standardized processes (SOPs) specific to Tonia Medical Diagnostics Solutions.
- Preserve laboratory stock by managing the prompt procurement of reagents, consumables, and other crucial inventory.
- Ensure full adherence with laboratory safety procedures, waste management procedures, and biosafety guidelines to preserve a safe operating environment.
- Work alongside clinicians and advising specialists by presenting specialist findings on unusual or critical test results.
- Engage in laboratory audits, certification initiatives (which includes ISO 15189), and uninterrupted workflow optimization programs.
- Stay informed on technological improvements in diagnostics and endorse creative procedures advantageous to the centre.
Education and Credentials
- Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) or equivalent from a identified institution.
- Ongoing practicing permit from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
- Applicable postgraduate accreditation or ongoing career advancement is a plus.
Expertise:
- At least 3-4years practical expertise in diagnostic laboratory solutions.
- Prior expertise operating in a high-volume, multi-disciplinary diagnostic centre preferred.
- Evidence of involvement in laboratory audits, standard enhancement programs, and tools management.
