Position Overview

The Workplace safety and wellness Officer (Transport) is in charge of making sure that the transportation processes within Dangote Cement Transport adhere with all workplace safety and wellness rules. The officer's position comprises conceptualizing, executing, and enforcing safety programs particularly tailored for transportation initiatives.

Duties

  • Formulate and execute workplace safety and wellness rules and standardized processes for transportation initiatives.
  • Carry out consistent inspections and audits to guarantee adherence with local and federal safety rules.
  • Offer learning and direction to transportation employees on safety procedures, crisis standardized processes, and tools process.
  • Evaluate risks and execute risk reduction plans for transportation processes.
  • Explore accidents and incidents to decide root causes and endorse corrective actions.
  • Preserve safety records and organize documentation on transportation safety effectiveness.
  • Organize with local governing bodies and compliance-related bodies regarding transportation safety guidelines.
  • Serve as a communication link for safety matters connected with the transport fleet and drivers.
  • Track the performance of current safety programs and suggest enhancements.
  • Engage in safety sessions and show applicable safety data and findings for executive review.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Ecological Science, or a applicable field.
  • Accreditation in Work-related Workplace safety and wellness (NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).
  • At least 3 years of expertise in a safety position inside the transportation or logistics sector.
  • Graduate Ecological Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a associated discipline, ideally in sciences or engineering.
  • Specialist Certification or Certification in fire, safety, health or ecological management from a identified institution is a plus, e.g NEBOSH, IGC, NVQ Level 6
  • Consciousness of Fleet safety management
  • Deep understanding of workplace safety and wellness rules connected with transportation.

  • Good logical and analytical abilities to recognize and handle possibility risks.
  • Capability to speak Hausa is a plus
  • Clear expression and people skills.

  • Skilled in MS Workspace Suite and safety management software.
