Authorizing Officers - General Profile Audio selections at Musical Copyright Society Nigeria (MCSN) in Benin, Edo

About the Position

The Authorizing Officer will be a key member of the MCSN team, in charge of the discovery, authorizing, and management of audio selections usage in public establishments across an allocated region. This position is crucial for making sure that businesses adhere with intellectual property regulations and that audio selections creators accept fair remuneration for the public effectiveness of their works.

Duties

• To survey and identify premises where audio selections is being used which includes hotels, bars, dining venues, superstores, shopping malls, event centres, halls, etc in assigned zones.
• Acquire and record the precise identity of the owner/s of such places and the accurate mailing deals with (both physical and email)
• Acquire adequate and current information about the processes of the business and the extent of their audio selections use.
• Organize and get notices (letters) of copyright requirement for the use of audio selections in the premises across to the owners or managers of the premises.
• Client engagement on the notices to guarantee that the notices are productively and precisely fulfilled to the suitable or applicable person/s operating or coordinating the business of the premises.
• Client engagement with visits and sessions with the owner or applicable person/s coordinating the business of the premises to get their response to the notices.
• Track the premises and record the use of audio selections in the business as possible evidence in case of future adherence and enforcement action.
• Keep receipts of buys or transaction made at the premises and match same with the reported use of audio selections.
• Finalize bargain and ensure the issuance of suitable licences to the premises.
• Make sure that all premises inside the assigned zone or zones are productively issued with notices inside the same period together with follow-ups.
• Make sure that there is no long time-lag between when the first notice is issued and fulfilled and the time a licence is completed or granted or the beginning of adherence/enforcement action.
• Make sure that licences issued are promptly fulfilled to the licensees.
• Regularly scheduled evaluate and survey of assigned zones to discover new premises or businesses that may possess been established in the zones after the starting survey.
• Advise the Manager of new development in the market.
• Make sure that licences issued are promptly renewed once expired or getting near the expiration date.

Credentials

• A Bsc in Arts, Community-related Sciences, or Submitted application Sciences. A higher academic qualification is a plus.
• Expertise in Copyright Management and Collective Management is a robust advantage.
• A good comprehension of the local environment and the capability to speak the local language or dialect is advantageous.
• Practical understanding of financial recordkeeping, basic accounting, and mathematics is essential.
