Dispute Prevention and Peace Building Officer at Global Peace Development in Calabar, Cross River

Role description

The Gender and Peace Building Officer will be in charge of organizing, managing, and executing initiatives that advance gender equality, community-related addition, and dispute prevention within target networks in the state. This position includes operating closely with group members, local key stakeholders, women’s groups, youth groups, and other participants to build capacity, coordinate dialogue, and assist programs that promote peaceful and welcoming societies. The officer will documentation straight to the Programme Manager, Gender and Peace Building.

Primary duties

• Design and execute gender sensitive interventions and peace building programs in line with project goals.
• Coordinate group dialogues, sensitization marketing, and development sessions on gender equality, women’s empowerment, community-related cohesion, and dispute settlement.
• Assist the establishment or strengthening of group systems that advance peaceful coexistence and gender equity.
• Recognize and record gender and dispute associated concerns within networks and propose circumstance-suitable initiatives.
• Work alongside local governing bodies, traditional key stakeholders, and civil society associates to improve gender and peace building targets.
• Combine gender integration and dispute sensitive approaches into all programme initiatives.
• Organize and send prompt documentation on milestone tracking, hurdles, and success stories.
• Ensure project initiatives adhere with donor standard procedures, corporate rules, and local cultural dynamics.
• Assist GPD asset mobilization attempt
• Carry out other assignment allocated under leadership.

Credentials & Expertise

• Bachelor's degree/Higher national diploma in Community-related Sciences, Gender Studies, Peace and Dispute Studies, Sociology, Development Studies, or relevant field.
