Role summary

The Media and Communications specialist plays a vital position in shaping public perception and strengthening participant relation. This role is in charge of crafting and carrying out strategic information exchange strategies, coordinating media relations, producing captivating content, and making sure regular communication tone across all channels. Serving as a key spokesperson, the officer boosts the company’s purpose, aspiration, and targets to within and outside the organization target groups.

Digital and Social platforms:

  • Oversee and modify LABDI’s social platforms accounts (Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, etc.), post status reports, run marketing, and track relation.
  • Produce multimedia content (graphics, short videos, data visuals) tailored to digital channels.
  • Engage online influencers, bloggers, and digital media outlets to enhance communication tone.

Radio and Group Outreach:

  • Formulate information exchange/media strategies using radio content for key projects (e.g., “Strengthening Project Response” in Yobe and Borno, and “Transparency and Responsibility in Government”).
  • Work alongside work collaboratively radio stations to generate and broadcast live magazine programs in line with rules.
  • Select applicable discussion topics, recognize suitable guests, and track broadcast quality and effect.
  • Listen to radio episodes, documentation on content, and offer feedback criticism to generation teams.

Graphics Recordkeeping:

  • Participate site initiatives, development sessions, and sessions to capture premium quality photographs and success stories.
  • Assist visibility and outreach programs, which includes arranging media visits and donor events.
  • Send all media content and overviews for addition in donor documentation and internal recordkeeping.

Other Obligations:

  • Assist the development of themes and visitor selection for radio programming.
  • Keep track of media coverage (print, broadcast, online) including LABDI.
  • Execute any additional duty allocated by the manager.

Qualifications

  • Bsc in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, Brand communications, or a relevant field.
  • At least 2 years of expertise in media and communications, ideally in an NGO or development setting.
  • Verified ability to oversee media relations, social platforms accounts, and multimedia content formation.
  • Robust drafting, editing, and narrative creation competencies.
  • Understanding with radio broadcasting and group media will be an added advantage.
  • Capability to operate under pressure, deliver on time, and convey productively with multifaceted participants.
  • Expertise in safeguarding, ethical information exchange, and rights-based programming.
  • Competence in resources like Canva, Adobe Innovative Suite, or similar software is an asset.
