Medical Warehouse Management Officer at the African Union (AU) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Main Processes

• Formulate and execute productive logistics and allocation operational structures to assist the storage and movement of medical and non-medical inventory across Member States and Africa CDC warehouses
• Design and oversee warehouse structure, layouts, and processes, making sure efficient storage, stock regulate, and managing methods in line with safety and business guidelines
• Establish warehouse management rules, standard operating standardized processes (SOPs), and QA guidelines for storage, managing, allocation, cold chain servicing & maintenance, and inventory regulate.
• Head organizing and execution of warehouse initiatives for crisis-management, which includes on-site selection, facility preparedness, and transport logistics
• Assess and combine suitable technical solutions and automatic control initiatives to enhance warehouse effectiveness, improve process effectiveness, and guarantee adherence with workplace safety and wellness guidelines

Specific Duties

• Evaluate and oversee warehouse processes under various scenarios and logistical contingencies.
• Assess information flows across comprehensive warehouse methods, from order commencement to receiving, storage, and allocation.
• Organize the solution of tools, structure, and system concerns to reduce business non-operational time.
• Formulate and execute office safety and health (WSH) plans to improve business standardized processes.
• Evaluate and submit application cargo merger initiatives to enhance storage space, reduce expenses, and increase productivity.
• Design cargo managing plans that account for asset accessibility and business timelines.
• Assess managing and storage standardized processes for hazardous goods and temperature-sensitive materials.
• Formulate and implement productive storage strategies based on product characteristics and customer profiles.
• Recognize and endorse tech and automatic control initiatives to enhance warehouse methods.
• Supervise the development and execution of warehouse layout and material managing tools (MHE) plans.
• Track and assess warehouse processes in alignment with standards oversight system guidelines.
• Stay abreast of technological progress updates and practices applicable to warehouse management.
• Oversee and enhance warehouse organizing methods, which includes storage and layout optimization.
• Carry out safety and health risk evaluations to reduce risk business risks.
• Design and execute cargo/material managing guard procedures.
• Head ongoing development programs and effectiveness improvement plans for warehouse processes.
• Strategy and oversee warehouse response standardized processes for incidents and crises.
• Any other associated tasks may be allocated by supervisors.

OR 

• MSC in Pharmacy, Health Stock Chain Management or associated fields from a identified academic institution requiring at least 2 years of progressive industry experience in warehouse management, logistics processes, stock chain operational structures, or associated fields, ideally inside community health, humanitarian, or development situations.
• Proven expertise during planning phase, execution, and assessment of warehouse processes, which includes cold chain logistics, inventory regulate, and layout optimization.
• Verified ability to operate with warehouse management operational structures (WMS), stock tracking resources, and stock chain effectiveness supervising software.
• Expertise in coordinating crisis logistics processes, which includes the storage and allocation of medical and non-medical inventory under time-sensitive terms.
• Understanding with international quality benchmarks in warehousing (e.g., ISO 9001, GDP, GSP) and safety rules connected with managing sensitive or hazardous goods.
• Prior expertise operating with multi-party entities, international Nonprofit organizations, or regulatory bodies in Africa or similar regions is highly preferred.
• Exposure to cross-border stock chain synchronization and operating in a cross-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment is a plus.

Tenure of Assignment:

The Assignment will be made on a temporary agreement for a period of one (1) year, of which the first three (3) months will be assessed as a probationary period. Thereafter, the agreement may be renewed for a similar period subject to financing accessibility, acceptable effectiveness and accepted outputs.
