Position objective
- WATU is looking for a strategic, logical, and nimble finance leader to act as the Head of financial operations for the West Africa Region.
- The successful applicant will head and supervise financial processes across various countries, primarily Nigeria, making sure financial discipline, tax adherence, capital optimization, and financial funding preparedness.
- This position is critical in assisting WATU’s growth through analytics-based financial plan, regional capital raising, and investor relation, while making sure strong risk mitigation strategy and compliance to compliance-related frameworks.
Regional Financial Processes:
- Head and oversee the finance teams spanning West Africa, with direct monitoring in Nigeria.
- Ensure precise, prompt finance reporting, every month closings, and adherence with IFRS and local accounting guidelines.
- Track operating capital, money movement, and cost-effectiveness across the region.
- Organize audits, both within and outside the organization.
Tax and Legal adherence:
- Ensure full adherence with tax legal provisions and financial rules in Nigeria and other West African countries where WATU operates.
- Build solid connections with tax governing bodies, auditors, and compliance-related bodies.
- Offer initiative-driven direction on tax organizing, risk risk reduction, and lawful arranging.
Credentials and Expertise
- Bsc in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a relevant field; MSC or Master of business administration is firmly preferred.
- A member of a professional body (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CFA) necessary.
- At least 10 years’ expertise in progressively top level finance positions, with a minimum of 3 years at a regional or executive guidance level.
- Exhibited success in coordinating multi-country financial processes, ideally in financial technology, microfinance, or asset finance sectors.
- Deep knowledge of West African tax legal provisions, financial rules, and businessenvironments, especially in Nigeria.
- Established history of capital lifting, investor relation, or operating with DFIsand private equity.
