Position Overview

The Project officer Internet and Cybersecurity shall report to the oversight of the Chief Project officer Internet, Cybersecurity & e-Applications to advance the development of internet use and solutions in addition to carry out initiatives towards the securing the ECOWAS cyberspace.

Position duties

  • Carry out projects and programs targeted at nurturing the development of Internet and the fight against cybercrime.
  • Advance affordable Internet entry and solutions in the ECOWAS region.
  • Support to the execution of ECOWAS cybersecurity schedule.
  • Support to the definition of needs and qualifications from Member States in the region on Cybersecurity and cybercrime.
  • Organize associated evaluation documentation to guarantee that needs of Member States are well recognized in terms of Cybersecurity and cybercrime.
  • Follow the evolution of key practices in compliance-related, regulatory framework and legislation in the zones of duty (Internet and Cybersecurity).
  • Evaluate, recognize internet regulatory framework and compliance-related concerns, requiring the attention of the ECOWAS region.
  • Carry out the West Africa Internet Compliance Forum (WAIGF) and organize the Internet Compliance role for West Africa for adoption by Member States governments.
