Job Description
Objective and Targets
The objective of the consultancy is to carry out a qualitative study to assess the perceived practicality and acceptability of the combined EQA-CQI intervention, as skilled by primary stakeholders participated in its execution and monitoring.
The specific targets are to:
- Explore participant perspectives on the execution of the combined EQA-CQI intervention, which includes facilitators and obstacles encountered.
- Evaluate the acceptability of the intervention design, resources, and methods among key actors which includes hospital employees, project implementers, and government participants.
- Collect strategic guidance from participants on how the intervention can be upgraded, institutionalised, or scaled up.
Scope of the Evaluation
The qualitative evaluation will be executed in selected project-helped hospitals and applicable monitoring institutions, which includes the State Malaria Elimination Program (SMEP) and the Hospital Management Board (HMB), in Kano State. The evaluation includes responsibility for key informant interviews (KIIs) with participants engaged during planning phase, execution, or monitoring of the combined EQA-CQI intervention. These will comprise of clinical and laboratory staff, hospital managers, EQA supervisors, CQI facilitators, and government authorities from SMEP and HMB.
Specific Duty:
- Assist the planning and synchronization of key informant interviews across selected sites.
- Help with notetaking and audio recording during interviews.
- Transcribe interview recordings promptly and precisely; convert from Hausa to English where relevant.
- Arrange and label transcripts and recordings for easy retrieval and evaluation.
- Protect privacy and follow professional conduct in managing sensitive information.
- Offer general on-site activities assist, which includes planning, respondent client engagement, and recordkeeping.
- Engage in routine debriefings or check-ins with the head advisor to guarantee advancement and settle concerns.
Outputs:
Precise English translations and transcripts of allocated interviews, with corresponding audio files and labelled site notes provided to the head advisor.
Person’s Requirements
- Bsc in community health, community-related sciences, or a relevant field.
- Expertise assisting qualitative data collection, which includes transcription and translation.
- Competence in English and Hausa (spoken and documented).
- Good organisational and verbal abilities.
- Capability to protect privacy and follow ethical analysis procedures.
