Project Explanation
Northeast Nigeria is at present facing an expanding humanitarian crisis with a vast number of Internally Displaced Persons in need of crisis support. These IDPs are living among organizer networks, lacking entry to livelihoods and assets, ultimately top to unprecedented levels of malnutrition and food insecurity. FHI 360 possesses been operating in Nigeria for over 30 years and responded to the humanitarian crisis in the NE for five years. In expectation of a new project, and in assist of ongoing ones, FHI360 looks for an skilled Support Technical specialist, Nursing officer/Maternal health worker to assist our response to the humanitarian crisis in NE Nigeria.
Basic Operation
Offering nursing and midwifery care, treatment and client engagement of patients, according to doctors’ prescriptions, procedures submitted application in service and universal hygiene guidelines/precautions, in order to guarantee the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population. Using your midwifery ability help female patients in all stages of pregnancy, childbirth and post-dispatch. The candidate will also offer antenatal and postnatal guidance and assist to women and their families
Obligations and Duties
- Works as part of a cross-functional team of employees to offer premium quality patient care to an extremely at risk population.
- Making sure patients are properly received and installed and that those with lack of autonomy are helped, especially regarding their feeding, personal hygiene, movements and comfort.
- Making sure triage of patients in waiting zones, wards or during crises, spotting the priority acute/crisis cases, carrying out first assist care and referring them to the doctor as required.
- Knowing, supporting, executing and checking in the universal hygiene guidelines/ precautions.
- Arranging and carrying out care and treatments according to medical prescriptions, and helping during discussions, routine rounds and other medical standardized processes.
- Engaging in health education of the patient (and family) as required.
- Carrying out admission, surveillance and client engagement of patients (i.e. evaluation of the evolution of their state of health and the recognition of any crisis or deterioration.
- Carrying and directing managerial standardized processes and documents (fill in patient’s files, forms, consumptions, statistics, registers, health files, etc.)
- Co-collaborate with Public health Extension workers and other RN/RM voluntary assistants operating within your unit, which includes skills development
- Aligns with the applicable Code of carry out and ethics
- Engages in outreach and public health programs (as necessary)
- Engages in Ongoing Career advancement (i.e. development sessions, training)
- Strategies care of the patient in partnership with the on-site doctor.
- Offering of direct nursing care i.e. Management of IV medications, wound dressings clinical observations etc.
- Sustains all reusable tools by cleaning and sterilizing accordingly.
- Preserve adequate and accurate records of patient care which includes consumables & instruments utilized(if any)
- Ensure premium quality Nursing and Midwifery health solutions at all project sites.
- Works with IT assistance and Monitoring and evaluation teams to collect suitable baseline data over the life of the project
- Gathers and sends periodic documentation
- Ensures adequate infection prevention and regulatory actions are preserved at all times.
- Executes any other obligations as may be allocated.
