IP Network operations center engineer at Equinix Nigeria in Lekki, Lagos

Position Overview

The IP Network operations center engineer will be in charge of initiative-driven supervising of Transmission and IP solutions and devices across the Equinix network through the assist of Network supervising operational structures, execute first-line diagnosing issues/fault separation, settle where necessary and report to higher support tier to other levels for assist in line with Equinix internal workflows

Duties

• Track the Equinix network, offering a specific modify, status, and effectiveness of all network parts, capacity solutions, etc.
• Recognize and offer a minimum of first-line assist on all faults on the Equinix network in accordance with the organization’s standard operating standardized process for fault escalation and management
• Preserve and ensure full adherence with all Equinix network operations center methods and standardized processes
• Ensure proper system manuals of all network events throughout normal/change cycles or processes
• Response all network operations support-associated telephone calls and interface with internal/external clients on business concerns and associated network events, using Equinix standard operating standardized processes
• Run routine and on a weekly basis management documentation on network events and initiatives, in addition to tracking escalations and other key effectiveness indicators and verify that every client SLAs are fulfilled

Credentials

• Bachelor's degree / Higher national diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or associated discipline
• Proven years’ expertise in the setup, processes and servicing & maintenance of Network devices (Cisco, Juniper, FortiGate etc.), optical fiber SDH and wireless network tools
• Robust logical and analytical abilities
• Solid understanding of Synchronous Digital Structured order tech
• Solid understanding of DWDM/OTN tech  
• Solid understanding of PtP/PtMP Microwave technical solutions
• Expertise in basic TCP/IP settings and diagnosing issues
• Outstanding and clear communication competencies, both orally and in drafting
• Practical understanding of IP devices
• Practical understanding of Ubiquiti or Ceragon radio.

Needs of the Position:

Will be prepared to operate on 24 X 7 base relying on the change roster, to man the system monitoring resources.  Also, should be prepared to commute to assist other Equinix Processes in Africa and beyond.
