Profile

  • The recurring dispute between farmers and herders in Benue, Plateau, Kaduna, and Katsina States possesses resulted in protracted violence, displacement, poverty, and food insecurity.
  • The root causes comprise of economic, political, community-related, cultural, religious, and ecological employee concerns, unhealed trauma, proliferation of small arms, climate adjustment effects, and weak compliance systems.
  • According to the Worldwide Documentation on Internal Displacement (2023), 3,646,000 Nigerians are displaced, with violence between farmers and herders claiming more lives than the Boko Haram insurgency (International Crisis Group, 2021). The NBS Multidimensional Poverty Index (2022) shows poverty rates in Benue (75%), Plateau (62.4%), Kaduna (73.9%), and Katsina (72.7%) that is exacerbated by farmer-herder clashes, desertification, and identity-based violence.
  • To abate the protracted concerns in the states, Worldwide Peace Development (GPD), is executing the project Supporting Agropastoralism Settlement, and Adaptability for Maintainable Livelihood and Peace in Benue, Plateau, Kaduna, and Katsina, States (PARSULP) with financing assist from SPRiNG targeted at nurturing settlement, adaptability, and maintainable livelihoods through agropastoral and agroforestry programs, climate-smart agriculture, and sustained dialogue channels.
  • The Participatory Rural Evaluation (PRA) will serve as a basic-level activity to participate networks, map clashes, recognize asset-use patterns, and co-produce Group Peace and Adaptability Strategies across the 4 states.

Duration of Task:

The task will be executed over 10 operating days per state, which includes on-site activities, data evaluation, and status updates.

Status updates and Oversight:

The Analysis Support will collaborate with the Head Advisor and GPD project team.

Qualifications

  • Bsc in Peace Studies, Dispute settlement, Community-related Sciences, Agriculture, or associated fields (MSC a plus).
  • At least 2–5 years’ expertise in site analysis, locally-driven programming, or peacebuilding.
  • Expertise with participatory approaches or PRA resources in dispute-affected zones.
  • Understanding with farmer-herder dynamics, agropastoralism, and local compliance systems.
  • Robust note-taking, recordkeeping, and verbal abilities.
  • Fluency in English and applicable local languages of the state of task is essential.

Payment Terms

  • Analysis Assistants will accept a lump-sum fee based on level of attempt.
  • 30% payment will be made on signing of agreement
  • Concluding Payment will be made upon finalization and entry of allocated outputs.
  • Payments will be subject to withholding tax (WHT) in line with Federal Government of Nigeria law.
