Trailer Driver at JMG Limited in Lagos

Role summary

Transport variety of materials, goods and tools using heavy-responsibility vehicles. Serve Organisation’s Logistics, Transport and Workshop department in a safe and efficient timeframe.

Duties

• Transport Organisation’s goods over land to and from production operations plants, branches and other specified zones.
• Examine the trailer before and after the trip, and document any faults found.
• Documentation serious mechanical challenges to the suitable staff.
• Make sure that any cargo transported is fully secured to the trailer, using barriers, chains, covers, or ropes.
• Make sure that transportation meets regulatory adherence and rules.
• Lead for long periods, carrying out long-distance supplies, modifying to pushing terms accordingly and safely.
• Load and unload materials or goods, organize dispatch papers, and keep records of his routine duty.
• Acquire receipts or signatures for fulfilled goods.
• Collect dispatch directions from suitable suppliers, checking directions and routes.
• Read and analyze maps to decide vehicle routes.
• Execute crisis roadside repairs, which includes evolving tires or installing light bulbs, tire chains, or spark plugs.
• Documentation vehicle faults, accidents, traffic violations or loss to the vehicles.
• Take up IMS duties which includes status updates unsafe act, requirement or standardized process in the work place, engaging in fire or crisis drill at work, engaging in system issue status updates and investigative as required and compliance to Organisation rules.

At least Qualifications

• Secondary school Academic qualification or equivalent.
• 3 - 5 years of expertise as a Trailer Driver.
• Possessing a valid Trailer specialist driving permit and good pushing document with no traffic violations.

Skills:

• Solid understanding of relevant heavy responsibility truck pushing compliance standards
• Practical experience with electronic tools and software which includes GPS
• Capability to lead long distances and commute routinely
• Flexibility and foresight to manage unexpected conditions (traffic, weather terms etc...)
• Solid understanding of road maps
• Schedule control competencies
• Capability to operate under pressure
• Capable to deliver on time
• Adaptable, capable to lead long distances
