Role summary
We are at present seeking to fill the position of Driver, who will be in charge to guarantee safe utilization of transport means, ensure workplace safety and wellness of all staff on board while offering qualitative documentation on usage of vehicle allocated to user.
Primary duties
- Lead in a safe way at all times, respecting the country's circulation regulations and following the base/capital logistician's organizing and directions;
- Ensure accident and threat control of ACTION AGAINST HUNGER’s vehicle and employees onboard;
- Notably, remind passengers to fasten their seatbelts;
- In case of an accident or system issue, at once get in touch with the logistics department and follow their directions; Finalize the system issue documentation within 4 hours or as soon as you arrive back at base;
- Follow all ACTION AGAINST HUNGER compliance standards and the vehicle manufacturer's standard procedures;
- Go for Interstate and site movements and stay in other bases overnight as and when necessary;
- Work according to the driver‘s roster/timetable, which includes weekends and national holidays when using the vehicle;
- Make sure that all personal documents (ID, pushing permit) and vehicle documents are valid and kept on board at all times;
- Verify that every necessary safety tools is carried onboard and in good requirement, and inform the logistics department of any deficiencies;
- Solve minor challenges and execute basic servicing & maintenance;
- Inform the Logistics department of any key repairs to be carried out, and at once inform them of any incurred loss;
- Carry out routine checks before launching up the engine;
- Carry out on a weekly basis checks once a week;
- Keep the vehicle clean and wash it routinely upon demand by the base/capital logistician. Keep track of the servicing & maintenance timetable and inform the base/capital logistician 500 1000km before the servicing & maintenance is due;
- Examine and organize the vehicle the day before exit to be on time;
- Load the vehicle with transported goods;
- Make sure that transported goods are accompanied by duly filled and signed dispatch notes;
- Acquire signature of the dispatch note from the consignee and return record to the sender;
- Check if all necessary tools is on board and functioning (information exchange tools, toolbox, medical kit, fuel, stickers, flags);
- Check with base/capital logistician if guard clearance is received before exit (SMP authorized for cross-state movements);
- Verify that every documents are on board and filled out dully with readable handwriting;
- Document the car movement in the movement log and get the passenger's signature;
- Finalize the Fuel Log schedule precisely routine with mileage, fuel usage information, and after every servicing & maintenance;
- Send the finished Log Schedule to the base/capital logistician every month;
- Send all receipts for fuel, airport, and parking tickets, etc. without delay to the base/capital logistician for settlement.
Role Qualifications
- First School departing certification or equivalent or above;
- A valid and ongoing Nigerian driving permit;
- Competence in English language;
- Previous expertise is a plus;
- Good reading and skilled in writing;
- Precise expertise in all traffic regulations;
- Adaptable and flexible in a evolving work environment;
- Effective communication competencies and high level of honesty and reliability;
- Expertise in guard concerns;
- Capability to remain calm in stressful pushing conditions.
