Job Description

Objective of Position

To assist the offering of financial, accounting, managerial and treasury solutions to assist AU processes.

Main Processes

  • Support to the execution of program derived from the unit’s business roadmap.
  • Ensure efficient synchronization and implementation of initiatives at various levels.
  • Work alongside Member States, Regional Economic Networks (RECs), and other associates.
  • Organize documentation, financial plans, and work strategies connected with the unit’s processes.
  • Support to the development of a asset mobilization plan.
  •  Engage in the management of employees with guidance, which includes effectiveness reviews.
  • Helps sophisticated evaluation and generate precise and prompt documentation.
  • Preserve synchronization with other departments of the Fee.
  • Engage during the formation of plans, rules, program, and strategies.

Specific Duties:

  • Ensure the reliability of accounting, status updates, and internal regulate operational structures.
  • Organize finance Management documentation to track financial plan implementation.
  • Guarantee adherence with the finance reporting calendar and on-time delivery of documentation.
  • Offer guidance to guarantee adherence with AU financial regulations.
  • Execute bank adjustments and track launch accounting items.
  • Guarantee adherence with financial internal regulates and rules.
  • Organize every month and yearly account closures and send documentation for executive review.
  • Assist the project setup of donor financial statements.
  • Help with yearly balance sheet and income statement and address audit requests.
  • Advance best management procedures, transparency, and responsibility.
  • Oversee the accounting team where relevant.
  • Preserve precise records of outstanding bills and receivable.
  • Use financial information operational structures based on international accounting guidelines.
  • Address participants' financial questions.
  • Generate consistent financial statements and track expenditures and financial record.

Or

A Bsc in finance Management, Accounting, Finance or Commerce or relevant field with two (2) years of applicable specialist work expertise in the zones of finance, accounting, finance Management, financial plan.

  • Understanding with international and regional regulatory framework methods and regulatory framework evaluation in the applicable area

  • Competence in one of the AU operating languages, fluency in another AU language is a plus

Competence in one of the AU operating languages (Arabic, English, French, Kiswahili, Portuguese, and Spanish) is compulsory and fluency in another AU language is a plus

Tenure Of Assignment

The assignment will be made on a consistent term agreement for a period of three (3) years, of which the first twelve months shall be assessed as a probationary period. Thereafter, the agreement will be for a period of two years sustainable, subject to acceptable effectiveness and outputs.

Compensation

Indicative basic remuneration of US$ 15,758.00 (GSA5 Step1) per annum plus other associated entitlements e.g. Post modification (57% of basic remuneration), Housing benefit US$ 16,813.44 (per annum), and education stipend (100% of tuition and other education-associated expenditures for every qualified reliant up to a maximum of US$ 10,000.00 per child per annum), for internationally hired employees and a maximum of $3,300 per child per annum for locally hired employees.
