Role description

  • The Dispute Prevention and Peacebuilding Manager will offer direction and technical direction for GPD’s peacebuilding programs in Yobe State.
  • The position concentrates on strengthening locally-driven peace systems, supporting community-related cohesion, and progressing plans that prevent violent dispute and build resilient, welcoming networks.
  • This role requires effective guidance, programme design and execution competencies, and the capability to participate government, donors, associates, and networks in building welcoming and peaceful societies.
  • Alongside programmatic duties, the Manager will supervise the processes of GPD’s Yobe workspace, making sure efficient synchronization, management, and dispatch of all initiatives inside the state.

Primary duties

  • Head the design, organizing, and execution of dispute prevention and peacebuilding programs in Yobe State.
  • Strengthen locally-driven peace panels and assist welcoming dialogue channels.
  • Advance youth and women’s active involvement in dispute settlement and peace methods.
  • Organize advance notice and early response operational structures (EWER) in dispute-prone zones.
  • Develop alliances with government, civil society, and development actors to improve peacebuilding endeavors.
  • Offer technical monitoring, capacity-building, and guidance to state project teams.
  • Ensure efficient M&E, responsibility, and learning (Monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning) operational structures to measure project effect.
  • Organize quality documentation, support summaries, and programme recordkeeping for donors and associates.

Credentials and Expertise

  • Postgraduate degree in Peace and Dispute Studies, Development Studies, Political Science, or relevant field.
  • At least 5 years’ expertise in dispute prevention, peacebuilding, or associated programming within Nonprofit organizations, or development entities.
  • Deep knowledge of dispute dynamics in Northeast Nigeria, which includes group adaptability plans.
  • Demonstrated expertise in programme management, participant relation, and donor status updates.
  • Outstanding facilitation, bargain, and verbal abilities.
