Position Overview
The Ecosystem Expert will play a pivotal position in strengthening the empowering environment for plastic recycling in Kano State and Nigeria at large. Operating closely with the Top level Technical Manager, the Ecosystem Expert will assist the program’s endeavors to develop alliances, coordinate participant relation, and handle systemic obstacles inside the recycling and waste management ecosystem. The position includes carrying out analysis, participant mapping, and regulatory framework relation to guarantee that collectors, aggregators, and other full operational cycle actors accept maintainable ecosystem assist for business expansion and effect.
Primary Processes & Duties
- Assist the Top level Technical Manager in conceptualizing and executing plans to strengthen the plastic recycling ecosystem in Kano and other project sites (Lagos and Anambra states).
- Help in carrying out a in-depth investigation market evaluation in Kano, which includes data collection, participant mapping, and evaluation of compliance-related, community-related, ecological, and economic dynamics.
- Coordinate relation with regulatory bodies, private sector players, civil society entities, and other ecosystem participants to encourage teamwork and regulatory framework dialogue.
- Recognize obstacles and avenues inside the recycling full operational cycle and propose practical initiatives to improve the empowering environment for waste collectors and aggregators.
- Track applicable government rules, rules, and programs that affect the plastic recycling sector, and deliver promptly status reports and strategic guidance to the program team.
- Organize expertise-exchanging sessions, workshops, and capacity-building initiatives to strengthen ecosystem partnership and consciousness.
- Assist M&E, and status updates on ecosystem-associated initiatives, making sure alignment with program targets and donor qualifications.
- Formulate summaries, documentation, and demonstrations on ecosystem findings and strategic guidance for within and outside the organization participants.
- Offer uninterrupted ecosystem assist to project recipients (collectors and aggregators) by linking them to applicable market avenues, networks, and regulatory framework programs.
Basic Credentials
- Bsc / Higher national diploma in Ecological Science, Ecological Regulatory framework, Economics, Development Studies, Business Management, Public Regulatory framework, or a relevant field, with a minimum of 3 year’ applicable industry experience in waste management, recycling, long-term viability, regulatory framework relation, or associated sectors.
- Alternatively, a MSC with 1 year’s expertise
- Proven expertise in participant relation and synchronization with government, private sector, and civil society.
- Robust logical and analysis competencies, with verified ability to carry out market evaluations and regulatory framework evaluation.
Preferred Credentials:
- Expertise operating in donor-financed projects or development program.
- Understanding with Nigeria’s waste management, plastic recycling, or ecological responsibility sector.
- Established history of assisting ecosystem-strengthening interventions.
- Expertise operating in Northern Nigeria, with robust networks in Kano State.
- Robust people skills with the capability to participate a variety of participants.
- Exceptional verbal abilities, both documented and verbal.
Necessary Languages:
Clear articulation competencies in documented and spoken English. Competence in the local languages of Kano State is highly preferred.
Commute:
A minimum of 40% with a readiness to commute to these networks.
