Civil engineer at Jamub Group of Companies - Abuja in Abuja (FCT)

Primary duties

• Execute load evaluation and design for key railway systems using STAAD Pro, PROTA Systems, Tekla Systems, and/or Midas Civil.
• Formulate bridge designs (which includes steel girder, pre-stressed concrete, and composite systems) and structural steel designs for stations, gantries, and ancillary facilities.
• Evaluate vendor entries, shop drawings, and method statements for adherence with design intent, project requirements, and applicable codes which includes Eurocodes, BS EN, and AREMA railway guidelines.
• Organize thorough structural drawings, bar bending plans, fabrication description, and as-built records.
• Offer technical direction to the on-site team, settle design clashes, and advise on structural modifications when necessary.
• Organize with alignment, geotechnical, civil works, and hydrology teams to guarantee framework stability and consolidation inside the corridor design.

Credentials

• bachelor's in engineering / Bachelor's degree Academic qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's degree in Structural or Bridge Engineering preferred).
• COREN registration (compulsory).
• Membership of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and/or Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) preferred.

Expertise:

At least 7 years’ post-certification expertise in structural design and oversight for large-scale transport structure projects, ideally railway. Confirmed understanding in bridge design, structural steelwork design, and concrete framework design.
