Psychologist at Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) - Holland in Anka, Zamfara

Main Goal

Offering psychological assist to patients according to MSF principles, guidelines and standardized processes in order to enhance the patients’ mental health.

Accountabilities

• Carrying out assessment of mental health needs of patients and establishing a diagnosis and a strategy of treatment.
• Informing the patient and his/her relatives about the possible results of the illness and the drug treatment to follow and referring patients to other health experts whenever necessary, in order to offer the most suitable treatment and enhance the patient's requirement.
• Executing the Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) procedure, recognizing possible victims of SGBV and referring them to the medical team so that they accept the necessary treatment.
• Offering psychological assist and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to patients according to MSF procedures in order to enhance their mental health terms.
• Helping and development employees members and adaptable people whenever necessary in order to improve the scope of MH initiatives.
• Operating in close partnership with translators in order to guarantee suitable terminology and conduct during sessions.
• Collecting statistical and supervising data about mental health initiatives.
• Informing the manager and the medical team about any concerns or challenges that may arise connected with patients’ treatment in order to offer the best possible initiative from a medical viewpoint.
• Making sure that all patient information is kept private.

Data and status updates:

• Ensure consistent documentation on initiatives, evaluations, client engagement and other associated documents to guarantee the quality and status updates of the project initiatives.
• Collaborate with MHS and data team in evaluating practices pertaining patients’ mental health.
• Inform MHS/MHAM about any concerns arising connected with patient’s treatment in order to offer the best possible initiative from a technical viewpoint.
• Preserve and ensure rigid secrecy of the SGBV recipient’s data, documentation and everything as well MSF documents.

Oversight / Sessions:

• Actively engage in unit-specific sessions and distribute hurdles with manager without delay.
• Participate group and individual clinical oversight with the MHAM/MH manager.
• Participate the project’s meeting on a routine, on a weekly basis, or every month basis and distribute the modify of initiatives.
• Be adaptable to take on additional duty and obligations allocated by your manager within your capacity and competencies base.
