Network operations center engineer - Telecommunication at Sigma Consulting Group in Lagos

Position Overview

We are looking for a initiative-driven and technically proficient Network operations center engineer to join our Network Processes team. The preferred candidate will track, preserve, and diagnose issues a variety of telecommunications and network connectivity platforms, making sure most effective effectiveness and prompt solution of concerns. This position requires robust competence in Cisco structure, fixed wireless technical solutions, and microwave transmission, in addition to the capability to operate in a high-pressure, diverse workplace on a 24/7 rotational change.

Primary duties

• Carry out instantaneous 24/7 system monitoring and supervising across all structure layers.
• Execute standard procedure and improved *system management* duty on network elements (routers, switches, wireless links).
• Proactively recognize and report to higher support tier network faults or effectiveness degradation that could effect service dispatch or customer experience.
• Evaluate traffic patterns and effectiveness practices to projection capacity concerns and endorse design enhancements.
• Diagnose issues and settle network-reported or client-reported incidents within SLA timelines.
• Report to higher support tier sophisticated technical challenges to third-level assist teams and check in to closure.
• Utilize network supervising and admin systems to guarantee visibility across core, entry, and transmission layers.
• Manage records for system issue documentation, setup modifications, and escalation standardized processes.
• Track performance threshold effectiveness of key vendors and bring to attention SLA breaches or risks.
• Offer assistance for microwave transmission operational structures, which includes effectiveness checks and fault separation.
• Work alongside cross-operational technical teams to assist network upgrades, servicing & maintenance windows, and consolidation projects.

Credentials & Qualifications

• Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree or Higher national diploma in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, ora  relevant field.
• Must possess 2–3 years of expertise in a telecoms or network processes environment.
• Cisco certified network associate or CCNP accreditation* (must be valid).
• Practical experience with Cisco switches, routers, and network tracking software (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Zabbix).
• Deep knowledge of Fixed Wireless Entry (FWA) tech and Microwave Transmission operational structures.
• Clear expression competencies – verbal and documented.
• Outstanding diagnosing issues and diagnostic abilities under pressure.
• Readiness and accessibility to operate 24/7 change rotation, which includes nights and weekends.
• Capability to thrive in a cross-cultural, agile, and dynamic technical setting.
