Job Description

Objective of Position

Under the oversight of the Financial officer, the Accounts Support is charged with processing financial financial record and preserving finance records, help the unit with managerial matters and offer assistance to the Financial officer on finance processes.

Specific Duties

  • Classify, code and post  of financial record  into  the  Financial system;
  • Evaluate accounts and establishing accurate balances;
  • Confirm the accuracy and thoroughness of supplier bills, agreements and orders before entering into the Financial system;
  • Help in proper processing of financial support financial record and in financial statements project setup, both for donors and internal management
  • Help in financial plan composing, supervising and regulate; 
  • Help in process of making sure that financial support disbursements are made for expenditures indicated in the financial plan/work strategy for carrying out program/projects as specified.
  • Finalize every month bank adjustments for small expense fund without delay 
  • Help with the collection of financial information 
  • Assist the prompt project setup of every month financial statements and yearly statutory balance sheet and income statement 
  • Execute general banking obligations.
  • Help with compliance to AU Employees in addition to Financial Compliance standards.
  • Help the Financial officer with external audit qualifications.
  • Preserve a proper submitting and recording system for all incoming and outgoing correspondence and documents;
  • Offer, managerial assist for sessions, seminars and/or workshops.
  • Produce, modify and preserve structured files and records which includes a system for tracking, supervising and prioritising duty;  
  • Process all financial financial record which includes outstanding receivables and payable. 
  • Participate AUSC Technical Board for Finance sessions and help in drafting meeting documentation
  • Execute any other obligations as may be allocated by the Financial officer.

Or

  • A Bachelor Academic qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or any relevant field from a identified teaching institution. 
  • At least three (3)  and two (2) years applicable professional background for Certification and Bachelor Academic qualification holders respectively, in finance and accounting work. 
  • A higher certification than Bachelor academic qualification in the above-mentioned fields of study would be beneficial
  • Expertise in managerial assist position is essential.

  • Competence in a minimum of two of the African Union operating languages (Arabic, English, French, Portuguese and Spanish), with higher preference to English and French languages. Expertise in one more or several other operating languages would be beneficial.

Tenure of Assignment:

The assignment will be made on a consistent term agreement for a period of three (3) years, of which the first twelve months shall be assessed as a probationary period. Thereafter, the agreement will be for a period of two years sustainable, subject to acceptable effectiveness and outputs.

Language:

Competence in one of the AU operating languages (Arabic, English, French, Kiswahili, Portuguese, and Spanish) is compulsory and fluency in another AU language is a plus.
