Baggage Handler at United Nigeria Airlines - 3 Openings in Nigeria

Position Overview

The Baggage Handler is in charge of safely and quickly loading, unloading or transporting airline passengers’ luggage in good time at the airport.

Obligations / Duties

• Collecting, sorting and checking luggage against flight lists, making sure that items go on to the right aircraft
• Transferring luggage from the arrival processing zones to the exit zones
• Taking luggage to the suitable aircraft in a baggage truck – protecting it against bad weather if needed
• Moving luggage to and from aircraft holds using trucks, cargo loaders and loading conveyor operational structures
• Storing cargo (goods) in warehouses prepared for allocation
• Making sure the luggage is loaded on the accurate conveyors in the baggage reclaim zone.
• Removing luggage from an aircraft as quickly as possible after it possesses landed.
• Keeping an eye launch for suspicious-seeking baggage items at all times and status updates anything unusual to guard or the police at once.
• Correctly loading and storing luggage in the hold of the aircraft.
• Recording and trading with impaired or incorrectly received baggage, and load discrepancies.
• Using expert tools which includes conveyors, bar code acknowledgment and lifting tools.
• Informing suitable members of employees about impaired or malfunctioning tools.
• Executes other associated obligations as allocated.

Expertise & Credentials

• Secondary school certificate or equivalent.
• A minimum of two years associated expertise necessary.
• Must be a minimum of 18 years old

Physical Qualifications:

• Good level of fitness and physical power
• May be necessary to operate late changes
• Must be capable to lift up heavy items at times.
