Fiber Site Technician at Fibrehub Internetworking Services Limited in Omole / Ogba Junction, Lagos

Position Overview

We are looking for a proficient Fiber Site Technician who will beresponsible for the installation, splicing, running test, servicing & maintenance, and fix of fiber optic cables and associated structure. The position includes assisting network rollouts, diagnosing issues network access concerns, making sure service standard, and offering in-field IT assistance to clients and internal teams.

Duties

• Install, splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cables for backbone, entry, and final-mile linkages.
• Execute aerial and underground fiber installation in adherence with safety guidelines.
• Carry out client premises tools (CPE) installation and ensure proper network access.
• Diagnose and fix fiber cuts, faults, and service interruptions.
• Carry out OTDR, power meter, and light acquire running test for link confirmation.
• Deliver promptly solution of service-affecting concerns and report to higher support tier sophisticated faults as required.
• Assist network operations center and optimization teams in preserving network uptime and effectiveness.
• Help in organized servicing & maintenance initiatives which includes link upgrades, re-routing, and preventive servicing & maintenance.
• Record and modify network records, splicing diagrams, and test outcomes.
• Interact with clients during installation and fault solution, making sure competence and client fulfillment.
• Teach clients on proper use and care of installed solutions.
• Follow organisation safety guidelines and compliance obligations during site processes.
• Ensure proper use of resources, vehicles, and protective tools.

Key Traits and Competiences

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical and electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant field.
• 2 - 3 years of practical experience in fiber optic installation and servicing & maintenance (ideally in an ISP or telecom environment).
• Competence with OTDR, power meters, splicing machines, and other fiber running test resources.
• Solid understanding of fiber cable building, termination, and splicing methods.
• Comprehension of GPON, FTTH, Metro Fiber, and backbone structure.
• Robust issue resolution and critical thinking.
• Clear articulation and client support competencies.
• Capability to operate under pressure and in difficult environments.
• Readiness to operate any time ( weekends, and holidays if needed).
