Position Overview
- The Radiation Therapist at Kano Cancer Treatment Center (KCTC) plays a vital position in supplying safe, precise, and compassionate radiotherapy treatments to cancer patients.
- The position exists to guarantee precise setup, process, and supervising of radiotherapy tools in alignment with prescribed treatment strategies.

Primary duties
- Manage radiotherapy treatments precisely in accordance with Oncologist's prescriptions and treatment strategies.
- Operate, calibrate, and preserve linear accelerators and other radiotherapy tools to guarantee safe, premium quality dispatch.
- Carry out patient positioning and immobilization, making sure comfort and reproducibility of treatment setup.
- Track patients during treatment, promptly status updates side outcomes, adverse reactions, or matters to the oncologist.
- Team up with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and nurses to enhance treatment dispatch.
- Preserve thorough treatment records, patient files, and recordkeeping in line with compliance-related and institutional guidelines.
- Teach and reassure patients and their families about treatment standardized processes, anticipated results, and possibility side outcomes.
- Guarantee adherence with radiation safety procedures and infection prevention and regulatory actions
- Engage in QA programs, uninterrupted career advancement, and analysis programs.
- Support to unit-specific organizing, audits, and enhancements to improve service dispatch and patient expertise.
Qualifications Credentials
- Bsc in Radiography, Radiotherapy, or relevant field.
- Ongoing registration with the Radiologic technologists Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN).
- Accreditation/development in PGD Radiotherapy compulsory.
- Expertise in radiotherapy tools (eg., Varian Halcyon, TrueBeam and Brachytherapy operational structures) preferred.
Expertise Qualifications
- At least 2 - 3 years post-certification hands-on patient care in radiotherapy.
- Expertise in operating with modern linear accelerators and image-directed radiotherapy is highly preferred.
- Prior expertise in oncology settings with cross-functional teams will be a plus.
